TForce | If we go union.....

I guess your right, I've been guilty of being ignorant before.

I, as most of you have been through rough times and jobs where you work hard with little compensation. Now it's the other way around, but here we are not getting more for the least effort possible. Being away from home for 2,4,or 5 days is rough on a family, yes, driving doesnt take the same effort as a roofer ect... then again were not exactly having fun either. If we are away from home on company business we should get paid for it.

If this is greed, than I guess I'm greedy.
Look at it this way, I want to better my life for me and my family. I would like more money and vacation time so that I can afford the things we need to enjoy family time together. A boat so we can spend time on a lake together. A motorcycle so I can save on gas which would allow my wife to spend more money on things that she really needs. Like memberships to the tanning salon,Hair salon and manicure??place to get your nails done. A larger home, A better car. More money for going out to eat. I could go on and on. All things that could better my familys future. All things that we could live with out. But as human nature goe's, I want more and more. Greed=The desire to want more. Most of us that are making the money that we do, really don't need any more. There are exceptions. But if we can get more why not? We need the family to have a happy future.

Here is another spin to the above, Personally I would love to have all of the above. More money and benefits. And not have to work for them. I would rather just sit home and collect a pay check. Now I could really enjoy my family and future. Its the American way.

You're right driving is not like roofing. We should make more than a roofer. They don't have 80,000 pounds behind them that with one slip up kill a lot of people.

I can't understand how a driver no less can lower the profession of truck driving. It just goes to show you the depth this industry has sunk to.

I can remember a time when truck drivers were highly respected and it wasn't just a job that anyone could do. After all you just sit and drive.

When you consider all the dangers that are out there we are all under paid.

Remember without trucks this country would grind to a complete halt. I think it takes much more effort than a roofer.

Have you heard of a roofer killing a family lately. OK, I'm off my soap box.

I would'nt say you are ignorent. We do get paid well ,we did have good bennies, well we still do, but there is nothing wrong with getting better.

I have alway's said that you should be very pleased with yourself and your accomplishment's, but do not put yourself down because you endevor to get better, wether it be money, bennies , better health, whatever the case.

My main philosiphy is, what you do not get, someone else will, this does'nt make one a bad person.

In our case as UPSF, I find it to be beneficial to fight the good fight because company greed will alway's be in the mix, and so will employee greed, two wrong's do not make a right , but do not think for one second that this DVD, and all the antiunion propaganda is going to keep me from what I believe in.

Not only do we endevor to be noticed and respected and paid for our hard work, but also deserve being treated with the same respect as we give our superior's.

And I am sure they will not give up a red scent in my name for any reason , as I am sure they feel they have worked for it.

My new jobclass is "Freight Redundancy Specialist".

This Person will have the ability
to tolerate mentally challenged dispatchers
who excell in the art of ignorance redundancy,
and can withstand driving 18 wheelers at
top end speeds in circles.:bicycle:

No, actually you are not off your soap box. And you may be in disbelief of what I am going to say but the trucking industry has no other to thank but the unions. Employer's do not want to pay the high wages and the bennies.

And scince deregulation the pay\hr \mileage has dropped significantly over the past twenty years.

I was infact discussing this with some one else who has been in the industry for a while and he remember's when the union was paying close to 15 dollars \ hr in the eighties.

Well one would think with the cost of living skyrocketing , thirty \ hr. would be paractical today, but it is'nt.

Come on, give roofers a break. I would not want anything to do with that line of work. I have done some complete roofing on my own property. No machinery, A square of shingles is very heavy climbing up a ladder. The heat on the roof is very uncomfortable and one slip you could be severely injured or death.

Ignorant meaning I'm not paying attention to other people I guess.

I give people the benefit of the doubt, I think they are smarter than they actually might be. but as with most everyone I learn from my mistakes.

There is someone here that thinks the opposite of people than I think, that they can't think for themselves, can't do anything unless a higher power is guiding them.

I would rather think the way I do than to under-estimate others, with under-estimating you can find yourself being used and left scratching your head while everyone else is smiling.

I used roofer as an example of manual labor. ie, Roofers do alot more work than drivers do as far as manual labor. We aren't working our 'hind quarters off but our time is worth top rate.

So you get to talk to one terminal woopdedoo....
JBG,
You may not approve of the way things are going, but the plan was, after all, to get one terminal to sign up.....INDY has done this in a big way.......now they'll negotiate a Contract.....then they'll ratify it.....then other terminals will see the Teamster Power and fall in line with the improvements that are certain to be made over what you guys have now. The plan is right on schedule and gathering support. You guys have nothing to lose and alot to gain......I don't see the problem.

It's a good thing that Jehovahs aren't as pushy as Teamsters or we would all be in brick buildings with no windows!! You know, you teamster folks do have the right to pursue us, I don't blame you If I were in your shoes I would want to be associated with us too. Ask the Dixie Chicks what the cost of voicing your unwanted opinion is. Vote No
I Will!! Down South Jukin' !

JBR,
You've got it a little backwards.....your co-workers approached the Teamsters, not the other way around.
Also, the Dixie Chicks have a new #1 CD, don't they? Not that the gutless radio stations will play it, but it's there on XM.

13 tour stops cancelled, WOW. You gotta tour to sell that C.D. Reason cancelled slow ticket sales, nobody's buying it. Sound familiar just like in '98 . Vote No!!I Will !!
Down South Jukin!
