ALGONQUIN – Wet roads were at least partially responsible for a three-vehicle accident that killed a Lake in the Hills man Tuesday, police said.

Michael Schulman, 28, of the 100 block of Village Creek Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene after a semi tractor-trailer jackknifed on Route 31 and hit Schulman’s Chevrolet pickup truck, said Traffic Safety Sgt. Wade Merritt of the Algonquin Police Department.

The accident occurred at 11:20 a.m. about 1,000 feet south of Cary Road, Merritt said.

Semi tractor-trailer driver Guillermo Medina, 56, of Cicero and Timothy Hogan, 65, of Cary, who was driving a Ford passenger car that also was hit by the semi, were not injured, Merritt said.

Shulman and Hogan had been traveling north on Route 31 when Medina’s truck, traveling south, jackknifed, Merritt said.
