Former NRA instructor Stephen Willeford, who lives near the First Baptist Church, says his daughter came into his bedroom to tell him she heard gunshots.

Willeford got his rifle out of his safe, loaded his magazine and ran across to the church, still barefoot.

When Willeford saw the gunman, they exchanged gunfire, and Willeford says he knows he hit the man.

Willeford says he doesn’t consider himself a hero. His family has lived in the Sutherland Springs, TX, area for four generations, and he had numerous friends who went to the church.http://www.fox8live.com/story/36780576/man-who-shot-church-gunman-insists-hes-not-a-hero

Any man who runs into a building with gunfire to save people makes into my hero book.

Agreed. A hero is not someone who dials 911 when their mother is lying limp or helpless on the floor. A hero is not someone who dials 911 when a school bus crashes. The word 'hero' is so overplayed anymore that people don't really understand what one is. However, to a hero and a modest one at that...
