Along with the demands of consumers, so grows the demand for transportation. Thus, one of the most essential tools to a manufacturer is the transportation of its products. Without the means to transport their goods, many companies would not survive.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the number of wage and salary jobs in the truck transportation and warehousing industry is expected to grow 14 percent from 2004 through 2014. Growth in the industry parallels the movements of the national economy. As the economy grows, the production and sales of goods increases. As production increases, so does the demand to move goods from their producers to consumers. As long as there are products to be distributed, there is a need for transportation.
