    https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/45319/the-charge-of-the-light-brigade

It's about the British and the Russians, fighting in Crimea in 1854.

The Charge that day was a mistake. The order was that the 670 lightly equipped cavalry was to circle behind the Russians, and stop them from removing their cannon. Instead, they were ordered to charge thru the valley, surrounded by 20 battalions of infantry and 50 cannons. Unbelievably, only 158 cavalrymen were killed, another 200 wounded, and 60 captured!

The officer that gave the wrong order rode to the front (perhaps to try to stop the charge?) And was the first killed...

Is that about the time the Brits I think were in Afghanistan?
There is poetry about that war too.
Some solider at night fearing that he will be crept up and and have his throat slashed.
    Wars a awful thing

You and the Left have no idea of what war is, Mags. It's not fighting with our hands tied by politics, as has been since 1945. That led to 9/11 and perpetual fighting. The book The Mouse that Roared, where a nation declared war on us so we'd rebuild them for free was supposed to be fantasy.

War is Hell, Mags. That's why it's SUPPOSED to be about making the enemy So Miserable they never wish to ever fight again. That was the purpose of the A-bomb. Kill their innocents. Destroy their water, burn their town to the ground. Make Genghis Khan look polite. Then they'll stop.

To ensure the Peace, prepare for War....

    (With apologies to the Monkees)

    Company abolished my run...

It's my last trip to Utah,
    I'm driving down the road.
It's my last trip to Utah,
    I'm hauling them my load.

Oh no no no! Oh no no no!
I don't know if I'm ever going back.....

I will say goodbye to Andrew,
    He's been great to me.
I'll drive out o'er the mountains,
I hope an elk to see.

Next I go to El Paso,
    I'll haul those caskets home.
As I drive across the desert,
I hope there's no tires blown.

    Oh no no no!
    Oh no no no!!!!!

And I don't know when I'm ever driving home......

It's my Last trip to Utah
    (Oh No!)

It's my Last trip to Utah
    (Oh No!)

It's my Last trip to Utah......

I remember a big rail strike in late 78. I had a deposit on a new 79 red Corvette. They lost the car. I got my $ back, and bought a new 79 KW. Big mistake. I'd probably have kept the car. Definitely not the KW!
