Both my wife and I would enjoy that life. Unfortunately, no rich relatives leaving us a fortune so we could do it. Gotta be rich or have deep pocket backers to be able to own a lot of Western land and there's no jobs but ranching or oil wells... Guess I'll have to invent an internet job so we can someday do that?

Yeah or wait until you're retired. Hutto does films for a living, nice job if you can get it. Trouble is when you get older things like proximity to doctors, stores & hospitals take a bigger priority. I have 5 acres about 2.5 hours drive from here its about 40 minutes to Gainesville with medical facilities and all the stores and stuff. There is a huge farm in the back, a house with horses across the road and in back of them another huge farm. Past that the University has a Observatory so it must be dark at night. Don't know how I will get the money to put something on there from scratch. That's my dream anyway. I don't want to live anywhere near Grizzly bears

Hiker Killed by Grizzly Bear in Yellowstone National Park
    didn't I mention I don't like grizzly bears!

    https://gma.yahoo.com/hiker-found-dead-yellowstone-national-park-173634001--abc-news-topstories.html

He had been reported missing by his coworkers that morning.

Preliminary results show the man was attacked by a grizzly bear, the park said. One adult female grizzly and at least one cub were likely involved.

"While the exact cause of death has not been determined, investigators have identified what appear to be defensive wounds on the victim’s forearms," Yellowstone said.

His body was found partially consumed and covered, the park said

No doubt they planned on coming back for a late night snack

My brother in law was out Elk hunting during Colorado's Black Powder Season.
Single shot black powder rifle. Walked 3 miles, no elk. Turned around and his path was blocked by a Momma Bear , a two year old cub, and two yearlings.

I asked him later what happened. He told me, with only one shot, he held his fire. Said Momma growled, he pooped, and they stared at each other for five minutes. Finally, the bears wandered off, not leaving a trace of existence...

    Whew!

The reason we always carry when we are in the outback gold prospecting, that and you never know if you'll come across some drug cartel or other criminal element out there, also the rattlesnakes.

I seen that the Lewis & Clark expedition had a few run in's with the bears. Their rifles would not put them down.
There is endless forum posts on what to carry for Grizzly. All big stuff that would be heavy to carry around.
Better to hang out somewhere they don't.

I wonder if the hiker carried the pepper spray, or if he had a chance to use it?

Gonna be quite the Fall; Crazy Horse gonna give me this rifle, Publishers Clearing House gonna give me $5,000 @ month for Life, and Quicken Loans gonna give me a $500,000 package of a new house and a new Acura!

Life is good! All I gotta do is wait for their calls...

Meanwhile, a hot looker in a Quick Cash System said she'll make me a millionaire in 100 days! All I gotta do is give her $250 and wait!
