Joseph “Joe” David Brewer Sr.
THOMASVILLE — Mr. Joseph “Joe” David Brewer Sr., 75, a resident of Trexler Avenue, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at his home. He was born on Sept. 11, 1938, in Guilford County, N.C., to Bernie L. Brewer and Beulah Ragan Brewer. He was a retired truck driver with Fredrickson Motor Express and attended Community Baptist Church in Trinity, N.C. He loved music, could play many instruments, and enjoyed doing magic tricks for children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bernie L. “Jack” Brewer Jr.; and a sister, Jean Rimer.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca “Anne” Fitch Brewer of the home; son, Joseph “Joe” David Brewer Jr. and wife Lisa of Thomasville; daughters, Vickie Bingham and husband the Rev. Junior Bingham of Thomasville, N.C., Karen Byerly and husband Jeff of Lexington, N.C., and Phyllis Summey of Thomasville, N.C.; brother, John Daniel Brewer of Indiana; grandchildren, Melissa Bingham and husband Robbie, Bradley Brewer, Ashley Hazelwood and husband Covi, Brett Byerly, and Kelly Summey; step-grandchild, Quade Vaught and wife Chandra; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at 2 p.m. at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville with the Rev. Ty Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and at other times at the home of his son, Joe Brewer Jr. Memorials may be directed to Community Baptist Church Building Fund, 9006 Hillsville Road, Trinity, NC 27370.
