Holland | Joliet

I am curious as to why no response regarding your terminated brother. This is what is wrong with labor today. Noone sticks together! Its everyone for themselves. And we call this a union?!
I don't get it. Are you talking to me?

Im sorry Benny. No - the Joliet driver (my husband) did not get his job back. He hasnt even had a grievance yet from Dec 12th. I was giving an example of how locals work. The dockman in local 710 got his job back 3 days later. Here is the best part. My husband was fired for causing a "hostile work environment". Did you ever hear such a thing. I am a member of local 710. They are using casuals at Joliet when my husband is still sitting home waiting for his grievance. Im sure you can see why I get upset!

No - just mentioning how noone seems to care if a fellow brother loses his job for "creating a hostile work environment" because he got in an argument with a supervisor.
2 months have gone by and not even a grievance date.

Yes, now I do. We had a couple of bosses that got in to a shouting match, then one of them slapped the other one and grabbed him by the jaw and shouted that he would kill him. They had several people that saw and heard the whole thing. The one that slapped and grabbed the other one got two days off and the other one, got one day off. The boss that got one day off didn't do anything but try to get away from the other one. Its sad whats going on through out the whole system. I'm sorry I misunderstood your first post about this issue. I say he'll get his job back and they will offer him his job with no back pay, plus change his termination in to a suspension. I hope he burns their "rear bumpers" and gets everything he should. Tell him good luck and try to stay positive. If you want more details about the incident I just told you about send me a PM.

I changed you posts arrangement around a little bit so every one might understand it a little more clearly Kathy, I hope you didn't mind. I missed what was actually happening myself the first time and I bet some others did too.

PLEASE READ THIS AGAIN GUYS.

What about the driver who was terminated in December for sticking up for his seniority and still hasnt even had a grievance. Like him or not, this could happen to any one of you. The company labor man (Neal) blames the union and the union blames the company. This could set a president at JO and you guys dont realize it. Hope none of you ever have a medical condition. Make sure not to swear just take their crap and be happy or you will be out on the street. Thanks Teamsters! EEOC all the way.

Another guy thats a dockman at the BV terminal, got into a screaming match (with profound language to say the least) with the Yellow Safety man. He was asked to see a movie on safety and said flat out **** no. He was terminated. Local 710 got him his job back in 3 days.

You must drink more than me because I just read another thread this morning where you bashed NorthernFlash for calling out a "slug". I dont get it. You're like Jekyll and Hyde!:nutkick:

Sorry shoeman, slug or not people should not be denied employment, besides I didn't single anyone out.
Now I'm going back to my coffee with a dash of Irish Mist.:smilie_132: I'm off today.

Hey Kathy--who was the dockman in BV that got fired-rehired?Hopefully L gets his grievance soon---alotta crap going on right now at our local though--President just got escorted out by the International.....I see trusteeship in our future!

I was always taught that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. In all the years that I have worked at Holland, I find the old saying still rings true, Holland doesn't fire anyone, they fire themselves. Good luck to him.

Cold response

Thank you brother Ice. Appreciate your response.

That brother ICE is soooooooo cold, brrrrrrrrrr and I'm sure his lips are as cold as his words. :butt kiss::loser:

I heard that it takes an act of congress to get the proverbial boot from Holland.

I suggest that the fired brother make the union work for him, start putting pressure on your steward and BA, after all I'm sure that this brother contributed to the wellbeing of the company by taking a 10% reduction on his wages.

Good Luck:smilie_132:

Can we all just be POSITIVE???

Yes, that was true when it was USF Holland but now that its YRC Holland that old saying isn't true any longer. We've had several people fired for BS reasons in the last 12 months, all of which have got their jobs back I might add.

It's hard to put pressure on the B.A./ President when he does not return phone calls to the stewards.

Thumbs UP

See, the act of congress kicked in and they got their jobs back.

Can we all just stay positive??
