I quit another LTL carrier after 16 1/2 years with them. I gave up 4 weeks of vacation and all that goes with the mid level senority. Was it a good move? Absolutely. I was miserable there as management attitudes towards their employees changed.
Now they are on extremely weak footing and owned by a character who would sell his soul to the devil if he thought he could make enough money off it.
Sometimes it just comes time to move on and I think that is what it was for him.

I was tired of 55 hr wks, coming in at 9 and getting off at 11, don't need that much OT. so far i'm very happy and feeling like a better person. was the right move for me.is it that bad that one would have this kind of attitude....
