A Shelby County landmark was damaged on Wednesday after a semi-truck rammed into the side of the 100-plus year-old Southville building housing Carriss's Grocery Store.

DJ Trucking driver Jeffery E. Bridges, 51, of Georgia, was attempting to make a delivery to a Shelbyville business when he made a wrong turn on Ky. 53 South.

After reaching the intersection of Ky. 53 South and Southville Pike, Bridges attempted to turn his truck around. But he miscalculated the amount of space between his truck and the store.

"All at once the building just started shaking," Carriss's owner Vivian Lisby said. "My husband hollered, 'Get out of here.'" Before she could make her exit, however, the driver attempted to back up, shaking the building again.
