So if we get lowered to OD's level, you'll laugh at us? You're a real swell guy.

Not to worry, this latest round of union activity will be enough to ensure that never happens.

this is the problem, if you guys are so keen on your ot after 8/40, get it in a contract, otherwise they will eventually come and say they need to cut OT pay to compete with OD. activity isnt enough, you need yes votes at barns.

...or they will simply call it "unsustainable".
That's code for "We are choosing to take this away because we can".

Or, the union could just tell us the company needed concessions from us, and that we should agree to them.

YRC's and ABF's contracts aren't looking so hot right about now.

Con-Way is making money hand over fist, yet those two need the employees to give back? And the union blesses this?

No thanks.

gee, maybe if conway is making money hand over fist, you could get your company pension back, along with better insurance. is your company only making money because they have taken your good paid insurance and pension?

It's kind a neat that the workforce at Yellow and ABF was afforded the respect and consideration of helping to decide on those concessions.

At Conway, there is no discussion. We get stories.

But what seems cloudy to you and deserves further dialogue is the core cause of Yellow's struggles. Why do you suppose YRC had to ask for concessions?

Hmmm, then I guess it would follow that the reasons YRC and ABF are losing money is because of the pension and medical insurance, agree?

Yeah, go to their board, and tell them how "neat" it is.

That's my point, you're talking like it's1978. Deregulation happened, carriers can set their own rates. It's called competition.
What it is called is buzzards circling the carcass of YRC driving rates down attempting to put them under. The Teamster's had other plans and went through 3 rounds of concessions to keep YRC above water. This negatively effected those predatory companies also. With YRC labor costs down, the choice the predators made was to take from their workers also. BTW, still waiting for those losing figures from the past quarter.
