Sunday Meeting November 15, 2015
a Vote to take our Strike Fund and roll it into the Locals General Fund was Voted Down by the members!!!

On a recent Sunday afternoon a frustrated and angry man found himself at home after an especially disappointing gathering of his peers. The day had not gone well at all for him and the many others who shared his views. Eventually he focused his outrage. Stepping into his pride , he aligned himself safely behind the many things he knew about the day's events. Then he wrote and posted a scathing condemnation of those people that had offended his sense of order. The only problem with seeking refuge in the things you know is the very real danger of blinding yourself to what you might learn. Here then is a one time only attempt to provide some clarity to this angry, disappointed man as well as the others like him.
To begin: There exists a not well known universal truth that people do not argue about facts, they argue over opinions. There exists an even lesser known, yet still valid, truth that if you chip away at an opinion long enough, you will invariably find not a fact but rather an unanswered question. The singular nature of the unanswered question dictates that it instantly transform itself into a negative opinion.
These are just a few of the questions that comprise the foundation of negative behavior manifested at the gathering. 1] what is the minimum funding level the governing body supposedly requires? 2] why has it been hidden? 3] why is it still hidden? 4] why is all or nothing the only viable solution? 5] why is it an emergency after many years of decline? 6] where is the leadership that could have addressed this issue before it became an emergency? 7] are there undisclosed activities or financial deadlines that preceded the seriously flawed and failed attempt to panic the entire group into an uniformed and hasty and potentially disastrous decision? 8] why the sudden need for wholesale changes that eliminate oversight and transfer power to the few ? There exists a multitude of additional questions. It is obviously not important to continue listing them.
A willing ness to step outside of the familiar and comfortable ,while taking a stand for integrity, honesty, equality, and the right to have a voice in your own future is certainly not stupid or selfish. As a matter of fact there is even a word for that. It is called character.
It is somewhat interesting that the angry man had previously voiced his support and commitment to the principles of integrity, equality, etc. when he took part in both the Pledge of allegiance and the membership oath. Fortunately for him, hypocrisy has never been much of a burden for the ignorant. Perhaps in the future more people will be less eager to simply vote their fear and more invested in knowing the truth prior to any decision that would sacrifice principle for comfort. As was stated near the beginning of this writing, this is a one time only effort to rebut the angry man's pointless ranting. The authors of this document absolutely will not engage in a continuing dialogue.
