Douglas W. Stotlar, Con-way's president and CEO, said in a statement, “Over the past eight months we conducted a detailed, strategic review of our customer base to bring LTL yields more in line with our premium service offerings,” Stotlar said. He added that the business environment for LTL freight, while competitive, continued to support “rational” pricing.

ba wa hahaha, Stotlar is drinking his own kool-aid now. these guys are willing to tell themselves the ship isn't sinking til they drown.

they have been reading too much Peter Drucker

This company is dumb in that we have raised our prices 15% in the last 3 years. If we took the prices from 3 years ago compared to the LTL market, they're still high. With these monster price increase, the only way we get business is by discounting and national accounts. Well what do expect when we charge 30% more for a service that's 10% better. If you want to attract more business and increase revenue, lower the abse rates so that the reps have something that customers can afford to buy. But DM doesn't like that, he thinks that people use our service because they have no other options but guess what - when you got a company like FXF which has alot more "accountability" and "flexibility" that Con-way has, no wonder revenue is down the drain.

Well said why do we get it but management don't. Last year Dave m was introducing himself and he said we were here to make money but I make less this year then I have in previous years barely paying bills. Looks like night time linehaul next year.

YEAH ! linehaul next year , not here between sub-service and con-way truck load , it is totally ripping are linehaul guys up
