CARUTHERSVILLE, MO - A Monette (AR) man died Friday night in an apparent accident in the parking lot of the Casino Aztar at Caruthersville.

According to a report from the Caruthersville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East 3rd Street at 11:15 p.m., in reference to the body of a deceased white male lying in the roadway.

Officers arrived on the scene and located the disfigured body of a white male lying in the eastbound lane of the street. Police immeidately secured the area.

Upon investigation, investigators learned that the victim was that of 24-year-old David Scott Neisler of Monette, Arkansas. According to the police report, Neisler was refused entry to the building due to "being intoxicated" and was escorted from the building. Neisler then reportedly told casino security officers that he planned to get a motel room, and then left. Security officers watched Neisler as he left the casino's pavillion area and went to a parking lot for tractor-trailer rigs, according to the CPD report. The police report indicates that security officers figured Neisler was a truck driver, "and had gone to one of the big trucks and went to sleep."

Investigators reviewed the surveillance cameras and learned that an 18-wheeler had left from the back parking lot within a few minutes of the call that was placed about a body in the roadway.

Further investigation revealed that Neisler's body had been dragged by that truck until the body was discarded from underneath the 18-wheeler in the street. "It was unknown exactly what had taken place with Neisler other than at some point he either fell from the moving truck or was under the truck when the driver pulled off," according to the report.
