(CBS) Franklin, Mass. An inbound MBTA commuter train derailed after it hit a flatbed truck carrying construction equipment at a railroad crossing in Massachusetts Monday morning.

The construction equipment had a bucket attached and was on a flatbed truck when it ended up stuck on the tracks at the Fisher Street crossing just before 8 a.m.

Pesaturo said the truck driver was walking on the tracks, trying to warn the train's engineer that his truck was stuck. The engineer saw the driver but wasn't able to stop in time to avoid the equipment.

When the truck was hit, the equipment swung around and smashed into the first coach of the train.
