I just got home to find a notice from Human Resources regarding Eastern's Medical Insurance premiums. I am not sure if NEMF personnel are on a different plan or the same plan but I figured I would mention it here.

As of 01/01/2010 our insurance premiums will rise to the following;
Single: $25.00 per week
Husband & Wife: $40.00 per week
Parent & Child: $35.00 per week
Family: $50.00 per week

Doctor Visits will rise as well.

Primary care doctor goes up to $30.00 per visit
Specialist doctors rises to $50.00 per visit

Prescription drugs will go to the following;

Tier 1 drugs $15.00
Tier 2 drugs $45.00
Tier 3 drugs $60.00

Considering what other companies are charging for insurance coverage this is still pretty reasonable.

Thats horrible.

We used to get our benefits free (free medical and dental) like our union counterparts at Nemf but they began charging us for insurance about 5 years back (if memory serves me right anyway).

In the 8 years I have been with Eastern we have had our pay package changed a couple of times. It began with multi stop bonuses cancelled, weekend pay cancelled (for teams anyway), medical plans changed from Blue Cross/Blue Shield to United Healthcare, 401K matches suspended indefinitaly, pay raises frozen, a 5% pay cut, and now an increase in medical premiums.

I know things change over time but it appears we are going backward in pay and benefits. The sad part is it appears to be industry wide.

Are we all in a race to the bottom???

yes we sure are in the great race to the bottom..this country as a whole is going backwards and were all gonna pay and be taxed to death while making peanuts at whatevere job is left, since we import everything so the owners of companies in the good old U.S.A can have their six cars, 5 house's and two yachts while we get the shaft...your right on one thing, it's still cheaper than buying medical on your own but something has to give soon
