I was the third STDF driver to grace the dock of a bread and butter customer. They get inbound 4 or 5 days every week, and ship the same. The first driver made a delivery, the second made the pick-up. 20 minutes later I delivered to them my last stop and would have made the pick-up. No one planned for this to happen, but that is the problem. Local management spends so much of their valuable time doing clerical duties that planning is not always possible. For want of a clerical person 3 men were used to do one mans job. More often it is two men delivering to the same customer on the same day. This was the Standard way. DHL has owned this outfit over 4 years. It appears it is also their way.
