3 Family Members Headed To Funeral Killed In Crash - Indiana News Story - WRTV Indianapolis

WAVELAND, Ind. -- A man, his sister and her boyfriend on the way to the siblings' stepmother's funeral were killed Thursday afternoon when their vehicle spun out and was struck by a tractor-trailer, police said.

The crash happened just before 10 a.m. on State Road 47 outside of Waveland in Montgomery County, 6News' Tanya Spencer reported.

State police said the victims' vehicle spun out in icy conditions and was struck by a tractor-trailer, which then pinned the vehicle against a tree.

All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

They were headed to the funeral of the siblings' stepmother, Amber Mills, 42, of Crawfordsville, who recently died of lung cancer.

The funeral home director said about 70 people were waiting for the service to begin when they learned of the crash.

"When the news came in from an outside person on a cell phone, a group from the family left and went out to the wreck site," said Machledt Services director Larry Servies.

Police identified the passengers killed as Amanda S. Mills, 25, of Buford, Ga., and her brother, Logan R. Mills, 21, of Suwanee, Ga. Amanda Mills' boyfriend, Anthony Suggs, 25, of Ruskin, Fla., was driving the vehicle.

According to MySpace profiles, Amanda Mills had a young daughter and was studying to become a surgical technician. Logan Mills said he was studying musical education at the University of West Georgia.

"I love you and Loggy so much," a family member wrote on Amanda Mills' Myspace page Thursday. "This is so unreal...WOW..Your with god now. You guys will be missed so much."

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Shane Jones, 38, of Waveland, was not hurt. A friend said he was shaken up by the crash.

“Shane, he’s a very nice guy. I’ve known him for a long time," said Nick Vaught, of Waveland. "I’m sure he’s devastated over the situation because he’s got kids himself.”

Amber Mills' funeral was postponed until Saturday.
