Our raises have continually decreased under the current leadership. This years $2.00/hr and .05/a mile is less than it was in 03 and 08 and we all remember what 2013 brought....

It is 7:30 am on a Saturday and there is a union meeting starting in Atlanta at 9 am, but I can't seem to make myself go. I keep thinking about the money offered in this contract and how we took a pay cut over the last 5 yrs and how the union negotiated such small raises over the next 5yrs. I keep asking myself; can I afford to pay for gas and wear and tear on my vehicle just to show support for my local union? I may need that gas to get to work next week! It seems I can't afford both driving to work next week and driving to Atlanta to support my union today. It really sucks to be poor. I guess working for a union company was not my finest moment or my most intelligent idea.

I repeat, you're a ****ing idiot

Question here, why should I drive two hours to a meeting that's not going to change my mind on how I'm going to vote. I've taking time to read the important parts of this B.S. contact which is also my last contact . Just send me my ballot so I can send in my NO vote. That's all I can do good luck to all sorry I'm not going to be there to hold your hand brother.

Go.....definately go........The heck with the gas money,....Tell your dispatcher to send a cab, if he really needs you......

You're standing up for Principles..........To some people,....especially those who want the respect of our children,...standing up for Principles in the face of mounting apathy.....is the most Important thing you could do.....

A little anecdote from my O/O days........I picked up a container going to Ravenswood W.Va out of Baltimore,.....and dispatch didn't bother to inform me that there was a long and bitter strike going on there, with an active picket line. The company had hired an escort service to get non-Union trucks through the picket line.

As I was a Teamster on a withdrawal card at that time,.......I stopped way before the picket line and talked to those guys...

And then I called the dispatcher in Baltimore and told him I had a "moral problem" about crossing a picket line......

He laughed,....and then said: "MORALS don't put food on your plate! Go cross that picket line!"

After I cursed him out as a traitor to all that's Holy and Respectable,......I took the load back to Baltimore,.....where he told me I would "never pull a load" for that company again. That's fine,.........I wouldn't want their filthy money, if that's how they conduct business........

After I paid for fuel and insurance and truck payment,....I made about $32 that week.......Things were a little "scarce"........

But, to this day my grown children talk about what "Honor and Dignity" mean.........Priceless

I agree with the no vote, But this is why you need to go. you need to make sure the other members know and understand all the facts. When I told our guys about how wall street said the company was getting over on the teamsters they all sat up and listened. those of us like it or not, who took the time to read and understand what this contract will do to us all over the next five yrs, need to make sure the rest understand. Vote no and sent this crap back for a do over!!!!!!

Why would you put yourself in such a poor financial state? You are living beyond your means and need to sell some toys or move to a cheaper house

I hope your comment was not meant for me. I'm debt free and very proud of it , just standing up for what I fill is a raw deal , Judy will have to work a little harder for her 500,000 dollar bonus this time.

Vote No & Help Unionize ABF’s Nonunion Divisions

ABF Teamsters care most about restoring the concessions we gave up. But by Voting No, we can also win a contract change that will allow us to organize the company’s nonunion divisions.

ABF Teamsters know about Panther Logistics. But do you realize how many other transport industry subsidiaries ArcBest owns? Google “ArcBest subsidiaries” and check out the results!

We can do something about this growing nonunion threat right now by Voting No and telling the company to include card-check and neutrality in the new contract so we can organize ArcBest’s nonunion subsidiaries.

This is a no-cost item for the company, but it is critical to our future.

Card-check means if the majority of employees in any ArcBest subsidiary sign union cards, the company will recognize and bargain with the union. Neutrality means that management will let workers decide, without using union-busting consultants or tactics.

If ABF management doesn’t plan to go nonunion by expanding other divisions and shrinking ABF, then this is easy for management to agree to.

It’s a no-cost item, unless the company plans go nonunion and eliminate our jobs. If they are moving that way, it is imperative that we protect our jobs by organizing the nonunion divisions at ABF.

When ABF Teamsters Vote No, our union needs to put card-check neutrality on the bargaining table and win it as part of a better contract offer.

Absolutely! Card check was the way UPS organized Overnite.....in about 4 months.

Prior to that, the Overnite organizing campaign had dragged on for several years,.....and was failing due to heavy company propaganda and pressure on employees.........Coercion?

Card check would cost ABF nothing,.........and, in fact,...may benefit ABF,...by attracting guys looking for long-term careers without "employee-at-will" laws hanging over their heads.....
