nc lost henkel account

not all bad if they replace the freight somehow. alot of small accounts that one can make some money on, is better than one account, that you are making nothing on... just saying

Went to an acct. Yesterday also..same thing ...ncty used to fill truck now maybe a skid a week.somethings going on

If they havnt made money in several years, maybe they need to lose some of their accounts...Cheap freight hurts companies more than it helps. Not saying thats the case here, but you never know.

Henkel was low hanging cheap freight. The carrier wanted a bign increase in rates they said no, so NC said bye bye. Basic business 101 gents...

In YRC,s defense, they did what they had to in order to survive some of their mistakes. It was multiple other carriers that were hauling ::shit:: for nothing trying to put the final nail in the YRC coffin, which pinched the entire industry.

hey, i'll admit they pulled it off so far. lets hope they are successful and keep people working, but the bubble will break somewhere...there's too many carriers !

Service doesn't sell as good now as it once did. Most customers will settle for mediocre service if the price is right.Thats eventually gonna take out some companies if it continues.Im not saying service isn't important,it just doesn't mean as much as it once did.

That being said, losing a few accounts that dont pay,may be a good thing.

Customers expect great service..NCTY'S business module is selling " load to deliver" to its customers. Which is a great service if successful. it reduces handling, claims ect... but in reality they only have 1 terminal and have to hand off a large amount to other carriers...so whats happening is NCTY is shedding non profitable freight and consolidating the areas they handle to increase profitability.
too little to late....it remains to be seen.

LTL is hard to compete against UPS and Fed Ex. They discount on all svcs as a package the shipper uses, not just the frt
So if someone uses TL,LTL,packages, envelopes, the get rates based on all of it,plus one call no matter what is going.
Try doing that with YRC,ABF,Pyle etc........

Thats probably why alot of carriers stay regional. They try to pack 60 ft of freight on a 53 footer going to a terminal to keep their pricing in line with the heavy hitters.I worked at a regional southeast carrier a while back and they were a sufficient company in what they did. They wasnt really in competition much with the national ltl,s.
As for the package guys,Fedex and UPS has been the main players in that division for along time, but pricing and service keep ltl competitive.Almost to a point some companies will haul it for free if they think they can get a leg up on a competitor, which in turn, hurts everyone.
