Holland | Need sales Dept. anymore ?

So question here is does Holland need a sales dept anymore ? with all the freight broker's and freight apps now days like this one , https://freight.uber.com/, and plus the inability to move the freight we have now , because of Driver Shortage caused by being the Lowest paid LTL Driver's in the Industry , this would be a Hugh money saving's for the company ! Kinda like taking on this Amazon account ,before sales Dept. checking to see IF we had the resources to handle it :6788:
 
Down here we absolutely need our sales. Putting out fires is what they call it.lol. Seriously our sales reps in Memphis do an outstanding job. Funny how times has changed. Remember when the complaint was "if those sales reps would get off their ars and get some freight". Now it sales in the dispatch every morning asking "why did you not pickup this, why didn't your driver make his appt, the customer waited all day for him. Fellows now the shoe is on the other foot. I load city every day and see some things that are mind boggling. New wave of drivers don't get it. Old drivers get sick of delivering comeback freight that the new guys think a liftgate is the only way to del freight that doesn't have a dock.

We have liftgate drivers bring back liftgate freight....Daily...
 
ok, kinda agree to a point ,BUT isn't that the TM's job to ask about missed pick ups and missed Del's & Appt's times ? Operation's manager job is to ensure pick ups & Delivery and also this points that we are short driver's to handle the freight we have now ,so why should we pay sales to go after more freight ,until we have the manpower to handle what we got now ? And YES the bring back freight is like 30% a day !!

But we have TM,and operations people who do nothing about the returns either....

There is no more of a safety issue now than it was 10 years ago. New drivers don't get it. You bring a shipment back you lose any revenue that could be made.
 
New driver's just don't get it period ........................ if they got heartbeat & can kinda spell there name they are hired ! a "BOTTOM FEEDER" company like ours can get anymore ...................................

So are you saying partner,that some new hires named, Bob, can't spell their name backwards either???

YEP, THAT WOULD BE THEM AND THEY WILL JUST STAND ON DOCK FOR 10 MINS AND STARE A BILL & AT THE SKID OF FREIGHT AND THEN AFTER 15 MINS , THEY TAKE THERE READER GLASSES OFF ON SLOWLY GET ON FORKLIFT & LOAD IT !! AND THEN THEY GO TAKE A 15 min. smoke break ..................................
