NEMF pulling out of Canada?

Heard today NEMF will be closing all Canada operations and using an agent. Has anyone else heard? Why are they closing the operations.

Yes, heard they are switccing agents. But we also heard they are clsoing down any direct service in ontario and quebec.

that's kinda crazy i get alot of freight bound for canada since we do it better than others but who knows now

NEMF will be using Manitoulin Transport as their partner. They have 60 terminals in Canada.

The people that were partners with new penn dropped them and went with us

That is correct. To get them as a partner, they had to agree to not compete with them in the great north.

Personally, I think it's a good move, but time will tell.

"Was" is an appropriate word. Another factor to the change was the uncertainty of YRC. Also, Manitoulin is the Candian partner for some of the NEMF domestic partners like AAA Cooper and Midwest Motor Express

so how many terminals did nemf have in canada? i heard they dropped us-npme- cause of uncertainy with yrcw connection.i am sure it will only get worse for us after no vote againt yrcw give backs.

NEMF has 2 terminals in Canada. Drivers aren't NEMF employees, they drove for someone that was leased to NEMF. Only management is employed by NEMF.
