Yes...we’ll all be deemed medically unfit to drive at our next DOT’s. You have to take into account we work for A.....B.....F Freight, which adds 10-20 points to both the systolic and diastolic numbers.
 
How many more drivers will this scare out of the industry? Especially older ones? Demographically speaking,.....LTL trucking has a labor force that's roughly 10-15 years older than the rest of the workforce. That's because all the companies relied on their competitor going out of business to provide a pool of experienced drivers....

Lot of that happened since deregulation. Why bother to set up a viable apprentice program, when you can just wait for the next big carrier layoff/closure?

And now you got the liability lawyers writing the Hours of Service regulations,........and the "medical" qualifications,........merely to limit the lawsuit exposure to the companies they are underwriting...........NOT for safety........

Oooh yeah,....Mr./Ms. Young Millennial.........This is an "occupation" you want to get into!! Not covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938,....so they don't have to pay you overtime,...or minimum wage,........Your..."standard"....work week is about 70 hours,.......most of which is spent away from home in filthy motels or..."luxurious"...sleeper bunks.........Your ..."party"....lifestyle is regulated by the FMCSA guidelines,.........Your urine is tested ......"randomly"..........You're treated like a transient bum by every law enforcement agency out there.........Now your sleep patterns are being called into question,.......and your blood pressure is held to a standard lower than most other occupations,.....and it is coupled to your ability to work.......You need a Federal background check every couple of years to see if your fingerprints have changed,.....and you get the privilege of paying for it, so your carrier knows,......

And,....to top it off,.....you have companies like Abe Beef Feve telling you that you must work without vacation,.....and make less money than,....say,.....plumbers,...electricians,...steelworkers,....consultants,....store managers,.....shoe salesmen,....honeydippers,......trapeze artists,.....clowns,.......hospital orderlies,........machinists,........pumpkin growers,......mimes,.......constables,.......street-light bulb-changers,.......
