Gordon M. says union is bad. I wonder how much he makes? Does he get sick days. Does he get more money by cutting my OT? How hard does he work? Has he ever driven a set in a ice storm and spun out and wonder if he still had a job? WHY WOULD HE EVER NEED A UNION/

Well put you might also add he wouldn't even have a job if not for the drivers.
I did forget to add my last post we have to give up the first two days to get sick leave. That forces men with families that can't afford to miss work to work sick. I told this to Leo and his response was about the cost to the company.

Gordon is so worried about my pension. I'm worried about how many more part timers he is going to hire to cut my hours. I'm thinking of my pay check next week. I was warned about my boots. What else can I do for you Gorden.

Nothing short of a one sided misinformation campaign. If that's the case Silverhawk, please enlighten us. What are the union's true colors? Time and time again, you guys take the crap that your company wants to feed you and you take it as Gospel.
I didn't need the video to see there true colors. I was there and seen it first hand....every day... and the video showed first hand to those whom had any doubt exactly what kind of CRAP the teamsters tried to feed US! I guess you will just have to find a copy of the video and take a look for yourself.

You know what Silverhawk,

The teamster crap you speak of, is according to Overnite management. No more. No less. Nothing more than a one sided view of the situation. Did the video mention the $10,000 Overnite paid to one of their employees to sabatage Overnite equipment? I highly doubt it.

I walked the line with the guys from Overnite , Long Island. We played football in the street, had cookouts, bought them pizza, donuts and coffee, and also contributed $10 per month out of pocket to assist in any way it could. When somone would cross the line, we all unanimously gave the scab a mouthful. Was there any violence? Not at our line.

Gee wiz, when Gordon (Leo's Puppet) speaks Leo is pulling the string. It's funny how when they were both running Preston, they couldn't stop applauding the accolades of the union that we were represented by. funny how they were instrumental in Preston's eventual closure, but they managed to walk away with millions of our $$$$$$$$$ when they left.

Gentelman, I have a question , with a story, and I would like to ask all what you would think. ALL THE ONITE PEOPLE THAT IS, UNION OR NOT.

I am a city driver, I had until last year worked in a city that believe it or not nobody wanted for a run( it was an equivelent of a slum). I as well as many others were of coarse being pushed by mgnt. to deliver all of our freight on the trucks, NOT A PROBLEM I SAY , and it was'nt. well when there was a big push to get freight into the system it was getting to a point when mgnt at our terminal was putting more and more freight on our trucks, while this was happening some of us did fine with it, as we all know ,you can go out with 25 stops and whip through them and sometimes 7 stops could take you all day.

Now for the most part my #'s in the city was around a 2.5 SPH.TO A 3.5 SPH. in the city pending on what I had onboard ( I had 2 malls on my run and always had 2-3 stops for the mall on a regular basis)
as time passed on my stops increased and so did the mall deliveries, it was getting to the point where I could not be productive and wanted to try something else aside from the run I was doing or get help.

I was getting burnt out, when the stops were getting to be more and more, we were getting out later and later to the point where we were getting out at 11:30 am - 12:30 pm and most of my stops in the city I was doing were closing at 3:00 not allowing me to get the job done. I had 7 years in this city. Now 3 managers later I finally get out of this city. We had a city bid something mht had never done before. in this terminals history. This was nice I am being told that when BB+B would go out at 6 in t6he am , (5 runs to be exact) with other freight for the areas we were in, and then when we were done with this we would start doing pickups, and those who started early in the morning would leave around 4-5 in the afternoon,

Well we had the bid, and I got my new run, well after BB+B first thing in the morning, we did exactly what we were told was going to happen which is described above. Then the shat hit the fan, we were coming in around 11:30-12:30 in the afternoon and would get my old run back making me non productive again, AND WE WERE ALSO TOLD UPS WANTS US TO BE IN AT 6:00 AT NIGHT. well as you could imagine because of this act of superior intelligance, we were getting in sometimes around 8:00 at night. and smart ass remarkes were being made by 2 people who came to manage our terminal from the west coast never stepping foot in NH ever, until now. Now in this time frame we were also told that when a person quits, a run changes, gets cancelled,or a person gets fired, this proposes a new bid on runs, we were also being told that when you have an early start you cannot have a peddle run( regardless of seniority). a bit contradictive considering WHAT we were infact doing after BB+B. Now during this time frame 3 people had quit, 2 runs were cancelled, 4 runs were infact split, since january. and every month we wsked if a bid was in our favor and we were being told, next week , in a couple of week's, next month, anything just to keep our mouths shut, Our bid was infact fictitious. What we were told was going to happen and what happened are 2 different thing's.

so we ask for a bid. mgnt. never followed the policy book on this bid in the city, and has no intention to do it now that we have a new policy book that essentially mimicks what we had.

Now there are five drivers ,good P&D DRIVERS. That now do nothing more than volume essentially falling asleep behind the wheel, because we are being paced to death. by a geographically ignorent dispatcher, who makes big mistakes and does'nt learn from them, and certainlt does'nt follow the policy book. And also could not quote anything in it even if thier live's depended on it.

Now in the midst of frustration and not knowing what we are doing from one day to the next, and being jerked around by this dispatcher ( literally) , what the union has to offer look's pretty good.

Now considering what is going on with benefit's, and what I just explained above, as well as not playing by the rulebook ( and I can give alot of examples pertaining to that as well if you want them) I am sick and tired of being "A JERK" AND BEING "JERKED OFF". and I am currently looking for a new job.
I am sick of the lip service from mgnt. ignoring what ales us and I am talking legitamate complaints, nothing unjustifialble. and this has been the path of this terminal scince it's inception, why? you tell me .I do not know.

So what do you people think, we have addressed mgnt locally even took our problem to corparate and it continues to happen. We are going out of our way to cause problems is what we are being quoted. The drivers are F***ing the company",

Now i ask you does this sound like a mgnt. team that does'nt want the union?

My new jobclass is "Freight Redundancy Specialist".

This Person will have the ability
to tolerate mentally challenged dispatchers
who excell in the art of ignorance redundancy,
and can withstand driving 18 wheelers at
top end speeds in circles.

And as far as the DVD, well whomever shot this one could probably not get LS to stop laughing long enough for the shoot .:tongue :biglaugh: so they picked MCKENZIE.

And I am quite sure he did this when the camera went off after the shoot.:tongue0002: :tongue0002:

At my barn there was not even ONE man from Overnite on your pathetic line. They were 100% teamsters.

I am amazed at the SCAB calling when we weren't on strike and we weren't replacement workers. and that was just the beginning.
1. Employees personal cars were keyed as they came in the gate. verbally abused as they walk from there cars coming and going.
2. Mirrors were ripped off the trucks as they attempted to leave on there routes.
3. We were followed every single day to every stop and intimidated verbally.
4. They tried to intimidate each customer to try and get them to stop using Overnite.
5. They drilled hole in the equipment that was dropped at unsecured customer docks
6. One of our drivers got a brick thrown through his windshield.
7. One of our drivers got his windshield shot out.
8. Air lines were cut and or pulled off as we went through the gate.

Yeah that sounds like a pizza party to me. We had your so called pizza party every single day. I hope you had a good time. I wont be forgetting your partys anytime soon....

Well, I can understand them wanting to stay nonunion. However, Their actions speak volumes just the opposite. They should start giving time in a half after 8 or at least 40. Pay all line drivers for all delay and break downs at full pay not half.

This was all Overnite's way of doing it. So if all this continues then the teamsters will have my support. I know some of my fellow workers won't like me saying this. But fair is fair and right is right.

This is wrong of UPS to keep the same tactics and pay structure as Overnite. Like I've said I'm still giving them a little time. But I will be behind what's best for me and my family.

Also so what I feel is right and fair.
I got an idea, That vision that "O" and UPSF talks about. Give it to us NOW and show us that they want our non-union support!!!!

The policy rule book states that nothing is binding in this book and can be changed at any time managment see's fit. Its like a contract. They can do anything at any time they want for any reason regardless of bids and seniority. How does it feel to be a puppet?

Don't need to. An UPGF employee has stepped up to the plate and is sending me one.

Didn't figure you would sent it anyway. Why would you bother to help either side be objective?

did anybody else get (in the mail) pre-approved credit cards with OVERNITE TRANSPORTATION on it in the past few weeks? i got two. i think sombody is selling our names. that bothered me a little but the dvd disgusted me that they would send it to my house. it should have been viewed at the terminals, on or off the clock doesnt matter. the inscurance packet should have come with a warning letter too.

Silverhawk,

Just because you personally had a bad experience at your location, doesn't mean that is the way it was at every location. I also don't think my location was an isolated incident either. Out of curiousity, could you be so kind as to tell me what area it is that you had all this trouble. I can understand these situations souring your feelings about organizing, but holding a grudge is not a progressive attitude, and the key here is (in my opinion) that we should all try to be a little bit more progressive.

In Long Island, we had a large contingent of Overniters on the line with us. But over time, through management intimidation and some with personal reasons, we saw those numbers dwindle. The one thing i did notice was that the Overniters that stayed on the line were the ones calling the line crossers and replacements scabs, more than the Teamsters did.

Let me also add, I was not too fond of the way the "Strike" was handled to begin with. There appears to be a different attitude with most of us(Teamsters), in as much as the union wants to start from a clean plate. That includes both sides of the table. I'm sure you can agree that both sides, management and union alike, made mistakes the first time around.
