In an effort to clean up the personal attacks I will be implementing rules for all forums beginning today.

The rules will be as follows
Looks like this is how it's got to be
No one is exempt as of 10:10 AM Today



Personal Attacks = 1st offense = 1 Day ban
2nd offense (within one month period) = 3 day ban
3rd offense (within one month period) = 7 day ban
4th offense (within one month period) = your account may be in jeopardy (points expire after 1 month)
Trolling Same rules as Personal attacks above, an example of trolling is being a non union or union member intentionally causing hate and discontent in a union or non union forum.
Spam = 1st offense 100% Instant Permanant Ban + Spam removed
Posting links to adult sites = 1st offense 100% Instant Permanent Ban + Links removed
Posting Gore Images = 1st offense 100% Instant Permanent Ban + images removed
Posting Pornographic images = 1st offense 100% Instant Permanent Ban + images removed

I never want to lose members as a site owner because traffic pays the bills but I can't let the forums go to the ::shit:: ter either.

Short bans are not appeal able
Re registering to skirt a ban could result in time being added to your initial ban and continued or persistent attempts to skirt a ban could result in your account being banned.

This is NOT an attempt to be heavy handed here, this is being done to ensure quality content and the free flow of information.

The above will be applied to all forums on Truckingboards effective today

Let me add something to this... My first course of action will be to ban a user from the thread in question to give them a pre warning warning.
When you get a ban from a thread that means that what you are doing is not acceptable content and you need to look at your content. I am not squelching speech, I am squelching personal attacks.

Moderating is a frustrating job because you develop internet friendships with people but have to moderate them as well. I have lost many internet friends over this, and I have been wrong many times over the years but I am trying hard for this place to be known as a fair site that is not bias against anyone or what they believe. The internet is different than in real life... I throw my hand up at all drivers I pass Union or not and get the same response back. That's what I want Truckingboards to be like, a friendly informative place where people can disagree without being disagreeable (Everette Acker saying from the Freighthauler.com days)
 
I don't care what people do in private messages, People can easily turn off private messages from those they don't want to receive them from .If people want to fight, feel free to use the PM system
 
As previously mentioned, I rejoined this site (truthfully, this is my 3rd time around... I used to be known as Beanstalk72) because a certain thread provoked me. I'm not surprised to see the same folks expressing the same hatred in certain forums, specifically the Politics area of this site. Is that forum exempt from these rules?

it's politics, most everyone there have been arguing back and forth for years... We are not against arguing at all here. We are just putting a stop to personal attacks.. what are you considering hatred in the politics forum because I am about as right wing as you can get and I get along fine with the liberals there just like the majority of the people there do.
 
You were beanstalk ... I can merge both names together under whichever name you want
 
I merged beanstalk into your new username and you got your 2007 seniority date back

That’s where a lot of us got on the permaban wagon....If you want honesty it hurt this site because a certain moderator had an axe to grind with members of an opposing site....

well we don't have any opposing sites , the internet is big and people are going to go where they want to. Things have changed over the years, I have made good choices and other choices not so good, we have a clear cut policy here now and we will moderate people on this whole website the same way regardless if we agree with their point of view or not. I blame myself for most of it + me not visiting my own site for close to 3 years regularly . I let stuff go and chose to ignore it now after a month of work I finally have it back in decent shape. I have a much smaller staff now, I never had a clear cut solid way for them to moderate so so I blame myself for that too, I have placed a clear guide for me and the staff to follow and I have made that same list available for the members to read... I have banned 0 people and only banned 1 from a thread , banning people and power ::shit:: ain't my thing, I like to sit back and read stuff not put out fires or have to be a referee between grown men . Some of my mods have been better than others over the many years but the ones that were not as good may be more my fault then theirs because I didn't do my job of communicating the duties. I appreciate my current mods and former mods for helping here, it's not a paid position other than ad free ..

You didn’t have an opposing site in the crosshairs, but someone else did....

It only became personal when I was attacked personally. Most of the time my comments were just simple statements that were taken out of context. What I’m I suppose to do just be someone’s whipping boy? This is your site and you make all the calls. But IMO if this site consists solely of snowflakes it will become rather boring. I will abide by your rules if allowed to do so but you are changing the whole dynamics of this site. A heavy handed approach is not always a good thing. When I was a moderator I always consulted “guardrail” before I ever made any decisions. I never bothered you because you would rarely respond anyway. I’m anti-union as most know but I was never given a set of guidelines to follow. Had you told me to stay non-biased I most certainly would have. I’m not confrontational actually despite what many think. I never intentionally tried to cause hate and discontent. I always try to take the path of least resistance but I won’t be someone’s whipping boy. Many are just thin skinned and totally defensive when it’s really unnecessary. I was a good moderator that just didn’t understand what you expected. I would have gladly conformed but you never gave me a chance. If you want to ban me for speaking my mind then you’re not the type of man I always thought you were. I won’t come on here and patronize you just because you’re the boss. I fully expect you to permanently ban me and I must say I will miss your site and being able to post from time to time. But I can still visit in the shadows and that will just have to be good enough. You’ve built something really good here and I just hate to see you take a direction that’s “not keeping things real.”

have no intention of banning anyone train , and we have always had rules for non vs union trolling, Union vs Non Union in no particular order has always been one of the biggest problems to deal with here. A Moderator can be union or anti union but he can't be biased against one or the other when it comes to moderating. Moderators can't rant for days against unions then be one who moderates these people.

I have always preferred my Union mods take care of the Union forums and the Non Union mods take care of the non unions.
