A 47-year-old Queensland male truck driver was lucky to escape with his life after swerving to avoid a kangaroo on the Hume Highway last week.
The accident occurred at Bango Creek, three kilometres north of Yass at 4am on Thursday, when the northbound semitrailer left the road after the driver attempted to avoid a kangaroo.

The truck has then ridden a guardrail in the median strip for 150 metres before coming to rest on the passenger side on a 60-degree slope between the two bridges over the Creek. The driver walked away from the truck, but later required 10 stitches to his head at the Yass District Hospital.
