The unease among advertisers over falling National Football League TV ratings is starting to boil over.

One of the league's major sponsors is considering pulling the plug on its NFL advertising next year, and, according to Business Insider's Mike Shields, other "brands are threatening to pull ads from NFL coverage if NBC keeps covering players' national-anthem protests." If those ad dollars go away, technological shifts may cause advertisers to decide not to return.

You lose somebody it's gonna be hard to win them back viewers or advertisers, for advertisers in order to get them back the networks have to cut them a deal on already reduced rates due to lower ratings, and the ticket prices will have to fall to get people to buy them, the NFL thought they were teflon and they are not and their revenue will start showing it, the annual super bowl ad's hubbub will be the true indicator.

people find other things to do
they realize watching a game is not all that important
the money saved on tickets and going to the stadium can be used for other things

It's a start. Now if they can get rid of the embarrassingly stupid, choreographed end zone celebrations.....

I had tried to watch or listen to NFL Games (especially the Colts) since the late 1950s, until a few weeks ago. Now I concentrate on College Saturday games, and my Sunday drives are Audible Book times. Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp replaced NFL excitement.

They haven't realized that when they give recognition to Black Power Salute, they also have to give permission to Sieg Hiel salute if a player chose to stupidly do so. Get Politics out of Sports!!!

Also it seems the NFL has no clue as to what the fans really want or how fickle they can be, NASCAR as an example has fallen hard without any controversy.

It's like a fat man going on a diet...he not only realizes how much money he saves at the grocery store every week he also notices the improvement in his quality of life.
I've always been negatively impressed with those shows of exuberance in the end zone. I thought that the Icky Shuffle was the most childish thing I'd ever seen in the NFL.

I always thought the best celebration would be a player calmly walking over to a ref, handing the ball and calmly walking off the field every time. Kinda like WWII guys never talked about it.

Player would get much love and respect.

Yep, but street cred is what they're after, it's more valuable to them than our respect.

I was never one to celebrate the fact that I did what I was paid and expected to do, and if I ever spiked anything at work it wasn't out of joy.

I think they should continue to support the NFL's (neeling for losers) protests and show it on TV, give it all the air time they ask for.

They tried to get too big,too fast. They bailed on their core of supporters in the south.Taking races from tracks to get into bigger markets proved to be an epic fail. They do,however, still show love for country and God.

This is one of the reasons why I still, and always will, like Barry Sanders. Every single time, he handed or flipped the ball gently over to the referees, basically saying "No big deal, I'll be back again in a few minutes."
The NFL players have become to big for their britches.

They are going to find out that their "street cred" doesn't pay :shit:, once the stands are empty.

Just watched a special on Bob Probert's life recently. Tragic ending. I feel awful for his family.
