Driver pay increases likely to be carriers’ biggest ‘cost pressure’ in 2018

https://www.ccjdigital.com/driver-pay-increases-likely-to-be-carriers-biggest-cost-pressure-in-2018/?utm_source=daily&utm_medium=email&utm_content=01-19-2018&utm_campaign=Commercial Carrier Journal&ust_id=124f9551466b2c5785e539d1cda3c973&utm_term=newsletter-2-daily-position-top-story

"While fleet executives don’t make decisions overnight, truckers may be in the pay-boost driver’s seat, considering all these dynamics. Buzz around tax reform has seen “some major players in retail announce increases” in their company minimum wages and other pay. “I’d expect drivers will say, ‘wait a minute, what about us? … OK, corporate America, this is what you asked for. Now it’s time to give back.'”

The corporate tax cut does, Vise added, deliver “real money, so it’s a real opportunity.”
Drivers pay,"likely", to increase.
Truckers, "may", be in for pay boost.
Fleet executives, "don't", make decisions overnight.
"Don't hold your breath waiting for a raise"...

My attorney, ( Algonquin J. Calhoun ) better known as 5 percenter Calhoun, says we may have an age discrimination case.

BTW, does any one remember this famous laywer?
I wish. The Coop Lawyer sued me back when I told him about -15%!!!
So I told him what Calhoun gets. He asked me where I got that info. I told him about the TB post.......now he's coming after TB and breeze with Al Sharpton and the gang.....

KeepTruckin moves ahead with petition to alter 14-hour clock

https://www.freightwaves.com/news/2...es-ahead-with-petition-to-alter-14-hour-clock

"...asking FMCSA to provide a 2-hour exemption for long-haul drivers delayed at a shipper. The exemption would allow the driver to essentially stop their 14-hour clock for up to 2 hours and take that time as off-duty time, giving the driver 16 hours to complete their day."

16 freaking hours? This would be ripe for abuse. Companies, drivers, would both abuse this provision. Wanna bet?

FMCSA extends comment periods on hours changes for ag haulers, personal conveyance guidance

https://www.ccjdigital.com/fmcsa-ex...-for-ag-haulers-personal-conveyance-guidance/

"FMCSA is also extending the comment period on a December-issued proposal to alter the guidance for carriers and drivers using their truck as a personal vehicle to their home or to hotels or restaurants along their route."

The proposal would, if enacted, remove the requirements that trucks and trailers be unladen to be used for personal conveyance.

No. Only the strong ones....

If things are in the trucking companies favor now, why don't truckload companies charge shippers/consignee, a fee for time and equipment?? May as well put pressure on them for a change

We have that exemption up here, actually. Though it's not commonly used for anything other than weather delays because we are allowed 13 hours driving time.

Man charged with shooting at FedEx truck

http://www.ajc.com/news/crime--law/man-charged-with-shooting-fedex-truck/Qukdf0ISYdD3uWGD2uOOhO/

"Fouts and his father returned to their Concord Brook Lane address about 7 p.m., the reporting deputy wrote, and saw a “white box truck leaving their driveway.” Austin Fouts thought their residence had just been broken into and was not sure if other family members were inside.

He said he got out of his truck with a Glock 19 and fired “approximately four or five rounds” into the grass, and also fired at the truck.

According to the report, five bullet holes were visible in the back of the truck, and four of the five went through the cab."

We have school resource officers, sky marshalls on planes, guess we did away with shotgun riders on the stage coach too soon.
