ELDs and trucking: A pain in the neck (and back and elsewhere)

https://www.fleetowner.com/driver-m...m=email&elq2=5af67207331448ca92d10842768c7845

"It also may come as no surprise, Bigelow said, that job satisfaction affects driver pain. The more dissatisfied a person is with their job, the more they complain about aches and pains. "That phenomenon is actually quite common across not only transportation but many industry sectors."

Does sound like a common trucking industry thing. Drivers especially.

:biglaugh:Sorry, we can blame a lot on ELDs, but pain too? :chairshot:

I think the “pain” is from not being able to run 2 different paper logs anymore and mega carriers not being able to abuse their underpaid drivers as much as they used to. I don’t miss paper logs at all, well sometimes I do...On the rare occasion I’m 10 mins past my 14.:17142:
Took the words right outta me, Dig. Yes. Back when guys were running 700 plus miles a day, 2 logs, popping pills, they never got sore backs, legs,or other health issues. It’s the damn governments fault!!!!

Gotta blame someone. But really, ELD’s? Who thinks up this crap?

The blame lies directly with the insurance underwriters. After so many million dollar judgements they had to change the dynamic of the playing field. Between the dash cam & ELD's, technology became the spy in the truck. Which now forces the company & driver to comply with the Reg's. George Orwell's '1984' book was a little bit late in arriving, but arrive it has. von.

Wow. They got a 44 million $ grant to produce a truck that goes 124 miles? That should fix all the traffic issues on the 405.....

Union Not Entitled to Information About How Employer Spends Money From Tax Cut, NLRB General Counsel Rules

https://www.natlawreview.com/articl...-about-how-employer-spends-money-tax-cut-nlrb

"In late 2017, Congress passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (“TCJA”), which among other things, reduced the corporate tax rate. In January 2018, the employer informed its unrepresented employees that “the new corporate tax rate will produce a financial benefit …and the Company wants to extend that benefit to our employees via a one-time bonus and an increase to the 401k match.” The employer’s announcement stated that it was not granting the bonus and increased benefit match to union-represented employees whose contracts were under negotiation."

**EMPLOYEES should still make every effort to hold employers accountable for how they use/share the tax cuts, IMHO. The VOTERS are a significant factor in how/why the tax cuts came to be. Again, NOT a one time windfall. I would suggest a major increase (to 100%) in 401-k match would be in order, at least for the duration of said tax relief.

Guess they forgot there were actually 15 things that concern drivers?

11. More money per hour
12. More money per mile
13. All detention money to driver.
14. Get rid of the gimmicks attached to
Driver earnings.
15. Minimum wages should never figure
Out to less than $20.00 an hour.
