    WOW,

You better hush your mouth on overtime pay driver... you'll have those good ole' boys down there in S.C. chokin on their grits...why heaven forbid son....no god fearing christian would ever ask for overtime pay! That's not the merican' way lolol. You better just be glad ya got a job son! and that your health insurance is only $280/mo. instead of $500. All joking aside brother, I wish ALL you guys who work your fingers to the bone.. 60+ hrs. /week would get O.T. pay. You all know what ya have to do to change that...but it takes more than just 1 or 2 brave souls speaking up. We have lost our quality of life in this industry and it's getting worse. These comanies count on their workforce being ignorant, scared, etc. but what they don't count on is when all of us stand up with one voice and demand a seat at nthe 'table'. until that happens... you'l have to 'eat standing up' good luck and thanks for having the courage to at least mention overtime pay. :D

Country cousin...Really?? that's the best you could come up with..:( didn't you know the pay before you hired on? ) the dumbest answer you could possibly come up with! So, by your mentality, nobody should EVER ask for a pay raise or overtime or improved working conditions ever? man, I'm glad I don't work for you..lol

I guarantee anyone who wants OT, and works at Southeastern, doesn't realize how blessed they are to be working at such a great company. Admittedly SEFL is not perfect, however there are opportunities to make more money in less time if you so wish. Since I decided to go Line haul, I've earned an average of about $28-32 per hour on average 40-50 hrs week(many more weeks with 40 hours). I have many friends that work at other freight companies. Some earn OT after 8 a day or 40 hrs a week and some don't like Southeastern, Averitt, AAA Cooper etc. Overall those who could earn OT usually get maybe 1-3 hours a week in overtime. Most of my co=workers like the ability to work more hours and be able to earn more money than those who earn overtime. When SEFL hires drivers, they tell them that 1. hours are not guaranteed, and 2. be prepared to work long hours when needed and different times of day depending on need.

Dang son you really tottin' that company line. I'll tell ya this. I've worked in this industry for almost 30 years and I've never worked as hard as I did at SEFL. Not to mention putting up with know it all terminal managers and half wit human resource people. You think it's fair to screw drivers out of a 100 a week ( 10hrs @ 10$ ). You'd be a good candidate for management training.

I do need to qualify a thing or two. When I first started with SEFL they were a great company to work for, and my first two terminal managers were the best I've ever worked for. But things change, people leave and others take over. Drivers are no longer appreciated for the job they do.Someone once told me " I can get anyone to run a terminal, what I need is someone to move a half a million dollars worth of freight and equipment safely" Sadly, that man no longer calls the shots.

ive been with sefl 10 yrs. i worked for another ltl before i came here. i have been in this business along time and ive been driving my entire life. southeastern is the hardest working company i have ever worked for as a city driver. i dont care to work over 40-45 hrs a week. over the past 10 yrs i have been here. it seems like the work gets more and more leaving out with 18 stops and having to do 6-10 pickups is crazy when management decides to rotate drivers and keep them at the house while they work the rest to death, just so they can keep the p&d cost down so there numbers will be good. Oh if you didnt know this company is all about numbers. im not bashing the company im just stating my 2 cents.

when you came to work at s.e.f.l. they did not tell you that you would have to divorce your wife
and marry the company,i have heard more than one driver talking about not having a home life and
like the other driver said if they had to pay over-time they would hire more drivers to cut the cost.
i heard one driver talking that s.e.f.l. is a christian company but he says thats only in columbia,sc
cause when his supervisor found out he wanted off on wednesday"s to attend church, he has not
made but one wednesday nite service since then.
seems that there is alot hide from the owner of that company...

hot rod you are right they are so much about the numbers that they be closing the
trailers so they can make there 100% close out time but the guy"s are still loading
the freight 45 minutes later. thats in-bound and outbound then going to recieve a plaque
knowing that they are cheating on there numbers. yes you are right about leaving with
15 to 18 stops and most of the time when i see a s.e.f.l. driver he is just getting to his
first stop at 11:30 12:00 and we are on are way to lunch. whats the deal with your company
paying you not to take a lunch? dont they know its a law to have a lunch break between the
4th and 6th hour? sounds like to me someone needs to make a phone call....

Been working at SEFL now 9 months have worked ltl for 30 years and this company by far is the hardest to work for the workloads are tremendous. I'm a combo driver so I bounce from P & D to L/H I know that terminals vary from location according to terminal managers. I happen to work at 1 where we have a know it all micro manager who doesnt appreciate any of his workers. Its sad to see grown men treated like slaves completely beat down by years of verbal lashings. I'm very blessed to have been a teamster for almost 20 years and to know that I have a pension waiting for me, the saddest part is that this company prides itself in being a christian company with christian values and nothing could be further from the truth this company is all about numbers and profits the company is doing very well making millions and buying up land for the family wealth. SEFL could easily pay OT or pay for its employees H/C but why should it? I almost fell outa my chair when we had a corporate guy forgot his name come down and tell us how the company only managed to make 5.5% profit which came out to about 70 million but after paying 40% taxes (really?) 39 million after all costs including buying up real estate. My #'s may be off maybe someone has better facts I'm going off of what I heard in the meeting.

The company is doing great and we are getting tossed the scraps.

What about 55 series trailers? The bars are all beat up and hardly getting replaced now. I'm glad my days with them are coming to an end. No more signing a sheet for a box that got crushed a month ago by someone who doesn't give a damn.

the company dont want to pay overtime due to having to hold there supervisor"s accountable
for the wasted hours every day. they always say the driver"s need more training what about
these so called supervisor"s and terminal mgrs that all they do is hold a title. never seen a place
where the dock guy"s did not write somthing up damaged then when you go to deliver it and it
damaged the supervisor tries to write you up for damaging the freight. numbers is a big deal at
s.e.f.l. so big that they will close your p&d run to make there cut time and 20 minutes later they
still loading the trailer and then the next day want to know what took you so long to get off the yard.
all these terminals cheating to get numbers need to give back them awards they recieved. oh excuse
me i got carried away,as for overtime it wont happen unless somrone starts talking to the right people.

what gets me is these terminals accepting these awards for making all these # and
knowing they are cheating to do it. well it will bite them cause the company is going
to say well you have done so good making your cut"s let"s change it to a half hour
earlier. i have heard of supervisor"s being let go for being caught cheating on there #.

LET"S SEE WHAT THE SURVEY SAY"S WHEN THEY COME BACK...............
