With thousands of pounds barreling down the road, some semi-trucks are either unsafe or have drivers who shouldn't behind the wheel. CBS 3 Investigative Reporter Walt Hunter reports on a crack-down on dangerous trucks.

In one of the largest safety crackdowns in city history, police have spent the past two days pulling trucks of the highways for random inspections. After checking 80 trucks, officials said over one-third were deemed unsafe to go back on the major roadways like the Schuylkill Expressway and I-95.

Police stopped truck after truck looking for safety violations. It didn’t take long before officers were writing tickets and pulling rigs right off the highways.

The driver of one 80-thousand pound truck had a suspended license and within minutes his truck, which police say had a defective brake system, was headed to the police impoundment lot.
