The new "pension" isnt a pension at all. It's a 401k with a little bit and i mean just a little bit better matching. They match 100% on the first 1% you contribute. This turns out to be like $250 if you make 50K a year. They call it a "modernized" retirement plan. That's just a fancy way of saying "now the employee has to shoulder the burden of retirement".

you are ignoring the rest of the match. They match 50% up to 6% income. Max match is 3.5% which is about the standard.

Plus there is a pension completely seperate from the 401k.
