I recently applied and interviewed for a Front Line Lead position at Averitt. I was told my beard had to go but I do not think I will get the job due to my weight. I was wondering if the same Image Policy applied to the part time dock workers positions?

Averitt does not allow beards unless a doctor's note is on file stating that your skin condition will not allow shaving, I have heard that a family doctor' note is not sufficient, must be seen by a specialist. I have seen drivers not allowed to dispatch themselves until they shave, and along time ago a dock worker wasn't allowed to clock on until he was clean shaven. I know we have several overweight employees and I doubt that would disqualify you.

In averitt's eyes it's not about doing the right thing, it's about looking pretty (or like a goober in the ridiculous uniforms they stick us in).

Wait until you see some of the clowns that walk around with shorts on with the black socks and black shoes. Prepare for the nausea by having an air sickness bag close at hand. Makes UPS drivers look like they are dressed for a wedding.

Oh, and welcome to the forum charlie brown.

CM puts the smiley face on everything while I shed the reality light on it.

Lifer, I put a smiley face on everything because I'm have true JOY, I love my life, and my job is included in my life, so yes I love my family, my job, my truck, my uniforms, my schedule, my co-workers, my bosses, everything. But that contentment and love of life is dependent on any of the things listed above. You on the other hand appear to "hate everything", and that's ok, you seem happy hating everything, and whatever makes one happy is a good thing.

Again, I don't hate everything. I am a realist and see things as they are and refuse to wear rose colored glasses.
