Like UN, I’ve been here a few years that we’re good also, 13 1/2 almost. I thought times were good even though the older guys at that time were raising hell. I couldn’t understand their thoughts, now I do. It’s difficult to watch a company in demise by its own efforts. That’s what’s happening. No song and dance, smoke and mirrors can change my mind. I only have a couple years left before I’m done. Reckon it will last that long?

Yes its hard for newer employees to conceive how much we have lost over the years. Believe me I have worked here a good bit longer than most . I love it when people that have worked here or been in the the industry half the time I have tell me how it is. It humors me to no end. Such is life...
Its hard for me to believe things will get better by just leaving our trust management. 15 yrs of taking has left me a bit skeptical in that theory. I'm done waiting for them.

Not close. I have a ton of options as most of us do, I’ll say the vast majority of drivers here would get snapped up in a heartbeat. Your right... it’s tough to watch. Most of us that were with Conway for a long time remember what it was like... White uniform shirts in trucking??? I can’t count how many times guys would ask, can you get me in the door? We only took the cream. Once freight guys at the top retired, and the bean counters took over, things changed. I really wanted this to work, but unless something changes dramatically, I don’t think we’re taking the elevator up. This last video I actually got up and walked out midway. I’m tired of the dog and pony show. We’re doing great, but it’s not enough. Don’t damage freight, but cram the :shit: out of trailers to get your claw award. Did you guys know that there are factors that are completely out of the terminals control that have a major impact on the bonus structure? I sure didn’t. I’m just going through the motions, and I apologize to you guys to dump this here, but it’s very deflating.

And I don’t think I’m the only one that feels this way.

Its still sad to see so many good people leave in droves. We all worked hard for so many years too build the business to be treated so poorly in the end. Years ago UPS was considering purchasing us and it was rumored at the time Detter was
to proud to sell us. In hindsight i think that would have been are best bet.

Newer employees realize what the current job market is like. They understand things could be worse. This still beats the hell out of working in retail, stocking shelves or something. A young man with no skill set can still significantly better himself through this place. I have seen quite a few, while I have been here, make a wonderful stepping stone out of this place.

Why would you trust management to do anything ? They are in the same boat we are. Unless you are talking about upper management, in which case, Jacobs is a flipper. It's his thing. He is only in this for the money. Not that the rest of us aren't. And that's really why we are all upset. He has taken enough compensation from the drivers that it now makes good sound, logical, and reasonable sense to take jobs " below " this one. What used to be a step back is now a lateral move.

You don't have to tell us you're sorry. You're Canadian. You are ALWAYS sorry. ( Had to ! Love ya, man. )

You are not alone. So many have left this company because of what you just said. Many more just going through the motions. I came back to the city this year. Hoping to clean up my personal life. Put some work into the house. Ready myself for the unescapable future that is now about to be the present. XPO is not my primary focus. Preparing myself for life without XPO is my biggest concern right now.

A bunch of guys are in blatant denial. Still think it's 20 years ago. Get all upset when you talk about the present reality we are dealing with. Three of us were digging our freight out of a breaker. And it was loaded by a gorilla with a front loader. Everything was broken. The skid of bags weren't even " leaking ", they were spilling :shit: everywhere. The one guy gets all exasperated.

Does anyone have any brains in this company ? he asks.

No mutha frakka, the ones with a brain left 10 years ago. This :shit: is every day. Where have you been ? Did you just wake up and realize where you are ? I responded.

And management. Management is a bunch of double speak nonsense. The job is dying. The company is a mess. The simple " right and wrong " decisions are no longer black and white, it's a blurred out, undefined blob of gray. They don't know what to do. And fear doing anything, because regardless of what they do, it will be wrong that they did it.

And all the while Jacobs wants us to do more and do it for less. I can't wait to see what he does for a raise this year. I am certain it will not be enough. Even if he gives a $2.00 an hour raise. It wouldn't be keeping up with the competition. With the Trump cuts and what other LTLs are doing. FedEx here is now at $30.01 an hour. And you have the upside of knowing FedEx won't be getting sold off any time soon. And that's just comparing to one company. And if you believe that ABF or YRC will actually find a back bone and strike instead of taking another pay cut. Well then, you want to make sure you are working somewhere you want to be spending 60-70 hours a week in the very near future.

That guy was a dinosaur. Thought he would die rather than leave. And he left this place. It does make you take notice.

Maybe, UPS was to smart to buy something like this. They likely realized it would have been a disaster. Overnite was a perfect fit for them. In hindsight, they dodged a bullet. That company has a history of making very sound choices.

1.) When someone owes you money , they try to avoid you.

2.) When someone doesn't want to admit you are right and they are wrong , they avoid you.

3.) When someone is lying to you - they don't want to face you , they avoid you.

With the corporate tax cuts AND all of the year-end reports of positive results , you would think upper management would have some specific news to pass on as to how money will be spent on it's employees and/or for it's employees.

The continuing trend of silence is makes you wonder. To upper management it's as easy as 1,2,3.
