that is exactly why the govt removes the taxes before you see the check
If Americans had to pay quarterly like businesses do, then people would actually see how much they are paying and would pay attention
This way people have no clue and actually get excited come April when they get their interest free govt loan they provide back in the form of a refund

They see it every payday when they look at the pay stub.
Don't matter they don't seem to extrapolate to talk of todays spending.
War in Iran, rounding up all the undocumented, we're talking trillions of dollars here.
    :wtflol: they think it's free

That's exactly right and it also depends if you haven't paid taxes in several years along with alimony / child support and other debts. What we are seeing here are people who had ALOT of debt or are in debt ( names withheld ) and are afraid to mention it with their post .

    Very understandable

(From your article)6. Social Security never had a huge trust fund.
And it was never "raided," Steuerle said, as many people believe. It's a pay-as-you-go system, so today's workers are paying for today's retirees.
    .

Thanks for making my point, and defeating the argument that you have an 'account' with money in it! (Did you read your own article before posting it?)

Sure people see it, but they cannot put it into context because they physically don't have to pay it like another bill, say your car payment or mortgage
Sit down, write the govt a quarterly check for $6000 see how that one sits
you would have an actual revolution on your hands
Do the same with SS, write that 6.25% check on each dollar you make

The only person talking about a war in Iran is you
and the estimate cost of rounding up all the ILLEGALS was under $200 billion which is slight more than what they take out of our country each and every year. I would consider that start up costs

I quoted your article that you linked...

    Can you read??? (It's #6)
Here's what you should know to keep up with the conversation.
    1. The average retiree gets 12 more years of Social Security benefits than she did in 1940.
It's not just because we're living longer, but we're also retiring early, said Gene Steuerle, an expert at the Urban Institute.
    2. Current average retiree age: 64
Average retiree age in 1950: 68
That's because in 1959, Congress created the "early retirement age." In exchange for reduced benefits, you can retire as early as 62.
    3. So what is the retirement age?
You have to be at least 66 years old to retire today and get your full benefit. The age is already going up. If you're 55 or younger today, you'll have to wait until you're 67. The Social Security website can help you figure it out.
    4. There are fewer than 3 workers for every retiree.
In 1960, there were 5 workers paying into the system for every person collecting benefits. It dropped to 3 workers in 2009, according to the Social Security Administration. And now it's even less. Thank the Baby Boomers and the Great Recession.
    5. 60 million retirees get Social Security checks.
In 1940, the first year benefits were paid, just 220,000 Americans were signed up. Since then the program has expanded to give benefits to spouses, widows and widowers.
    6. Social Security never had a huge trust fund.
And it was never "raided," Steuerle said, as many people believe. It's a pay-as-you-go system, so today's workers are paying for today's retirees.

20, this started when you posted that you would sue to get the money SSI has in your account. Now, you post a link to an article that clearly states that there is no trust fund, and that all money is spent the day it comes in. (The opposite of your argument)

And then you celebrate? I don't get your cerebral intellect??? :regretful: Must be above my pay grade!:duh:
