One of Hoffa's Western Region Vice Presidents, Rome Aloise of Local 853 in California, apparently thinks he will probably not be able to make it to the Teamsters convention as a delegate. The same goes for his other 12 delegates--they probably won't show up. Which explains why a Local with 13 delegates has decided to pay the expensive costs to also send 13 alternate delegates to Las Vegas.

Unless, wait a minute, could it be that Rome is taking the opportunity to reward his most ardent devotees numbers 13 through 26 with an all-expenses-paid plus 40 hours of pay, six day trip to the beautiful gambling mecca of Las Vegas, where during the convention and candidate voting hours, the 13 alternate delegates will do...NOTHING?? Yup, that's it. That is it. And the amount of paid hangers-on isn't necessarily limited to those. There could be more paid "guests", but if so, that is kept as unknowable as possible to those out of the loop.
That's not the kind of "leadership" I want after Daddy's Evil Worthless Spawn dies.
