An almost $3 per share turnaround to the positive and he's disappointed. well whoop-te-do, I wish my 401k was doing that good.

At least you are "showing" a profit!! Man that article looks familiar, just with different names and numbers. The accident quote is interesting. I wonder, was last quarter out of the ordinary for accidents or is that just smoke they are blowin in your face?:hide:

As I understand it there was a pretty severe accident. I don't know the details other than our driver was responsible.

It doesn't take but one or two severe accidents to really yank the profitability down.

The numbers reflect the activity of the freight industry trends as a whole as far as the ups and downs. However, with different revenue measures up I wonder where the slippage was.

last year had some fatalities our fought we need to start looking at drivers more closely and start weeding out the ones that just keep hitting stuff

I wonder how much of those higher costs were due to the fee paid to ibtnot4me's consulting firm? I heard that those companies charge big bucks to advise workers on whats in their best interests.

Probably nothing compared to the cost of dealing with the IBT if they would have made it in.:1036316054:

How many drivers do you know that had a major accident last year still work here?? UUUUUMMMMMM!! NONE!!

Could some of the profit gone to a certain company out of AUSTIN?? laptop anyone??:tongue0002::google:[

I think its funny that when profits are low they blame the drivers, but when profits are high its because of good management. Maybe someday they will realize just how important the drivers actually are.

The easiest costs to control are the labor costs. When the cutting comes, they will lay off, cut all overtime, put more work on salaried first line supervisors to make up for the lay offs, etc........:chairshot::Bondage::hide:

After they cut the work force and put more on the supervisors it goes down hill from there!! The supervisors in turn put more and more pressure on the hourly men and women!! Then guess what everyone is running around like a chicken with its head cut off!! The final result is more mishaps and accidents!!

LED,

Come on man don’t you know it was upper management driving all year in adverse conditions!! They picked up and delivered and moved the freight from terminal to terminal!! We are just here to get in the way!!:butt kiss:

Yea, I saw a few of them up in MO and NE last time I was up there. :biglaugh:

Maybe they were the ones leading the way on I 40 in AMR during the snow storm that saw a flipped over fire truck.:hysterical:

SHHHHHHH! Don't tell this to anyone but Saia now has the transporter from Star Trek. They really don't need drivers anymore but they keep us on so as not to let the cat out of the bag to the other companies.

but remember kids, as per the memo a few months ago...only central can tell you a run is not safe enough to start. once they tell you it is ok to run, it is your job to get stuck, in an accident, or get lost in a white out, etc, etc. THEN tell central it is not safe enough to continue. assholes.... yet they blame the poor earnings on our accidents.
