Some terminals will hire a newbie as a dock worker and they go through the doct to driver program. Seattle does it I think Denver and some of the California terminals will also. As ar as line haul goes no way no how.

DLS has a dock to driver program as well. P&D drivers can run some of the extra loads on the weekends, so there is an opportunity to get the foot in the door, so to speak.

I can't be certain, but I believe that some of the dock to driver trainees went linehaul after their training period was over. I'll have to check on that.
 
we hired some guys off the street a couple years ago for linehaul. as far being a newbie, you need one year experience or as stated, go through the company program.
