A big blast of winter has brought rain, ice, and snow to the tri-state area. It closed schools and caused many accidents on Thursday. Some people on the east coast might have to wait a little longer for their Christmas presents to arrive after an accident.

A FedEx semi overturned in the ditch on Interstate 90 near the Canistota exit. The semi was traveling from Utah to New Jersey when it crashed Thursday morning. The semi was carrying hundreds of packages. FedEx employees were on the scene to transfer the boxes to another FedEx truck.

A spokesman for the company says the boxes were taken to Sioux Falls to be inspected and will be forwarded on to their destination if they're not damaged. The senders will be notified if the packages were damaged.

The driver of the semi wasn't hurt.
