President of UPS Freight to retire
Associated Press
ATLANTA - The president of UPS Inc.'s freight unit, who headed Overnite Corp. before it was bought by the world's largest shipping carrier in 2005, plans to retire at the end of this year.

Atlanta-based UPS said Leo Suggs, 66, will be replaced by Gordon Mackenzie as president of UPS Freight.

Suggs will spend the next five months working on service at UPS Freight. Mackenzie, 61, was most recently senior vice president and chief operating officer of UPS Freight.

UPS acquired Richmond, Va.-based Overnite for $1.25 billion and subsequently rebranded the unit as UPS Freight.

Suggs, who has been in the trucking industry for nearly 50 years, was named the chief executive officer of Overnite in 1996.

Jack Holmes, a senior UPS manager who headed the UPS Freight transition team, will replace Mackenzie as senior vice president of operations at UPS Freight.
