There is an arms race of sorts in the shipping industry—and it is prompting a backlash. Efforts are under way to supersize trucks, trains, and cargo ships as freight haulers look to move more goods in fewer trips.

I can believe it. I saw a lot of those triples going East on the Indiana Toll Road, when I was getting back from the NASCAR Race at the Michigan International Speedway yesterday. I never saw so many triples being driven, especially on a Sunday.

Thruway double 53' with the tandem axle dollies in the wintertime. Are they still pullin those on the NY state thruway. Wow that would be something with triples on the thruway, you definitely earn your money...

Other companies still pull double 53 in NY. Yrc doesnt pull double 53 or triples. YRC tried to get NY to let them but they said no way.
