KK, a friend of mine is planning to retire in the next 12 months at age 65 with 19yrs in the union. He claims he can get insurance through AARP that is just as good as or better than the union retirement health care. True or not? Do you know?

So what is positive in this post? What explains that I didn't know all the information?
All I did was post facts. Do you want me to make up something good about you?

Now you want kk to be a insurance agent. Again nothing positive for me to post on your behalf.

Take a look at United Health Care which is through AARP. It's good nationwide. If I ever leave the region covered by Western Teamsters, that's what I would do.

go to the link I posted ...
The Humana plan is cheaper for a Teamster because if special rate. It will cost me from the lowest plan at $98 to the highest of $198 a month....my Central States Retiree Insurance costs me $100 a month until I turn 65.

Well, Kennesaw like i said in the CSPF forum, congress wasn't going to bail out the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation every decade. If you watched the hearing like a good Super Moderator should, but you didn't. You would know congress isn't going to allow multi employer funds to run up huge pension obligations anymore with phony numbers. That means congress is going to take away, what these "better negotiators" got for them. If canary, muler and docker, provided the compensation information i asked for, then CSPF members could have demanded the same from their negotiators. Maybee Kennesaw your not fit to be a super moderator!!!!!!!!!!!
BYE BYE......

"The TeamCare Retiree Health Plan is not available to any member on the plan that qualifies for Medicare Part A or Part B, or who has been receiving a Social Security Disability Benefit from the Social Security Administration for more than 24 months. It is important to note that a member on the Retiree Health Plan who qualifies for Medicare and elects not to take it for any reason is not eligible for the TeamCare Retiree Health Plan."

NO....but they are eligible for the Humana Plan tbat CS has negogiated for us.

Not what Eddie Wells said. And not what we were told at one of the general membership meetings. But I KNOW you know more than I do KK and I trust your information more than anyone I know on this subject (other than Rosemary). So I'm wrong and I'm sorry I posted bad information.
Hell dude, Rosemary is the one that told me about the TeamsterGold Plan for retirees who are over 65 and need a Medicare Supplemental Policy.

Once a retiree reaches 65 years of age he/she can no longer get standard retiree health insurance from the Union. He/she must either go on standard Medicare and pay for a supplemental plan (offered my many organizations) which pays for what Medicare doesn't or get one of many Medicare Advantage plans (again offered by many organizations like Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana, AARP, United Healthcare, etc.). All those plans - Medicare supplemental or Medicare Advantage - are spelled out in the info Medicare sends out every year to those individuals 65 and older.

If you get a Medicare Supplemental Plan you must also get (and pay for) an additional prescription plan. Every year that you don't have Rx coverage after age 65 will cost you a penalty if you get it at some time in the future. On the other hand most all Medicare Advantage plans include Rx coverage.

All people over 65 are eligible for some type of Supplemental Plan or a Medicare Advantage plan depending on where they live.
Can’t you read kk and my Posts? Central States have negotiated a supplemental plan for Teamsters at a reduced cost. It is called TeamCareGold like our teamcare we have before age 65. Just saying. Hmmm

And your point is? You made a post that was not the complete facts. That where we are right Now. Trying to give out the rest of the story.
