Central Transport | Terminals closing?

I'm sorry, from what I've seen my dog is too good for Vitran. She would actually care about doing the job RIGHT, unlike many of the people with whom my husband has had interaction. When I worked in the industry, had I done my job HALF as sloppily I would not have had it for long. This company could be amazing, but the few that actually care are far outweighed by the ones that don't give a rat's patootie about doing the right thing as long as they still get paid. And no, not from Ice Road Truckers - show me ice and you'll see my backside as I get as far away from that stuff as I can possibly get. Snow, ice - keep it. I want nothing to do with it. LOL

that's the general story around here with new hires, trying to figure out who is responsible for what, and also who does what, not always the same person. when i was a rookie i wanted a pto day due to flu, went to 4 supers and still no answers, finally senior driver said it was my first contact and he was just screwing with me, every time someone takes a pto is shows up on his report and he has to explain why, if you just want the day off with no pay, he will ask how many do you want and say goodbye

exactly why it is hard to find the right people to turn this place around. i like so many others try, and have hopes and ideas of what this place could be, but facing reality a lot of us have lost hope too because it only takes one less than normal worker to derail the good work of a dozen, and we have 2 of them at my place on P&D. who will take their place if we get rid of them? no one, cannot even get anyone to apply anymore at my place even though our starting wage is higher, other than con way, within 60 miles. by looking at such things at DOT inspection history, and hearing stories from other terminals, i have it pretty good at my place as far as being a safe place to work and running a tight ship, now if we could just work on management higher than my place and get things in motion........ new work incentive,,,,, do your job or get fired,,,,, derail the progress,,,,, get fired,,,,, jump on the boat of higher income,,,,, or get fired.

Just talked to a vitran driver @ our barn he was looking for an application,he told me they shut down the drop yard in Wilkes barre pa. He said he could follow his work but would have to start as a new hire....Wilkes barre / Scranton is a big freight market, he said they would service it out of Harrisburg which is 21/2 hours away ..... Good luck

I am up for a new position! What shall we call it? What will the title be? New dock hire trainer?, New and experienced dock hand refresher course supervisor???, Oh, I know! How about Boomerang has been promoted to "General Commodities Distribution and Transportation Specialist". Yea, I like that one.
Thats Chris Keylon's job to straighten out as we all know. As a whole the drivers are the least of their problems. I hate to keep beating that same dead horse, But the "Dock" and their lack of knowledge of how to load trailers is the biggest problem....See most people think that loan went to pay off certain debts. I say it went to pay off claims, or at least a large portion of it. We are all entitled to our own opinions, and that's just mine. No one really know's where it went but corporate. But here's my point. Claims go straight to the bottom line. The success of this company will rise or fall depending on if they can find a way to solve the claims issue. They must address that as a #1 priority .....I understand you must maximize cube space....But get more racks....Get more deck trailers....It serves no purpose to haul someone's freight if we are going to destroy it. It's truly pathetic, with no anwser on the horizon.
