WILLIS — A truck driver was shot today when he pulled over his rig along a Interstate 45 feeder road to get a bite to eat and to make a cell phone call.
Police said a homeless man randomly shot at Willie Ray Goree, 51, of Irving, as Goree talked on the phone while walking to a Jack-in-the- Box at I-45 and FM 1097 around 1 p.m.
A bullet struck the cell phone, went through it and hit Goree's neck near his right ear, police said.
Willis Police Chief James Nowak said the shooter, Feofaaki A. Hafoka, 36, fired at least three rounds from under an overpass, where he was apparently living
