PLANO -- A truck driver was airlifted to a hospital after losing control of his truck and taking off the front porch of a house near Plano on Tuesday, the Kendall County sheriff's office reported.

The collision occurred about 1:20 p.m. when the driver of a tractor-trailer rig heading north hit a patch of loose gravel in the 2100 block of Little Rock Road, said Wayne Dial, spokesman for the sheriff's office.

The vehicle swerved into a ditch, crashed through some saplings and pine trees, and smashed through the front porch of a brick house at 2160 Little Rock Rd., spilling his load of lumber.
