This right to work is a baaaaaad, deal!!!!

I would imagine it would be hard to not pay dues at a union shop in a rtw state, if someone didn't want to pay dues, don't take the union job. Peer pressure is strong, no one likes a freeloader. I've seen the argument as well about what if its the only job available, but that doesn't hold water, swift and Schneider are always hiring...
Amen Brother, we don't need non dues paying rats. We have too many dues paying, limp wristed rats now.

There are thousands of good strong active union members with 30+ years who are sick and tired of being sold out by the IBT.

Many of these new RTW states are located in the central states region. RTW in these states could potentially become the weapon of choice for sold out union members to send a loud and clear message to the schemsters who have destroyed their jobs and pensions with unprecedented givebacks worth billions to YRCW.

Many YRC employees are asking why should they pay dues to a union that sold them out?

Here's a few points for not paying union dues, but the list goes on...

The IBT:

1. Destroyed the Central States Pension Fund by failing to organize.

2. Successfully lobbied the U.S. Congress for the new law to drastically cut retirees pensions, and throw orphans under the bus, and God only knows what will happen to the active members still working.

3. Reduced pension contributions for YRCW by 75%. You'll never get it back!

4. The IBT robbed the Rank & File of a 12 to 6, NO VOTE against non union purchase transportation. The IBT shoved it down your throat, and destroyed thousands of union jobs.

5. Hoffa appointed Wall Street Guru, Harry Wilson to the Board of Directors of YRCW. This guy collected a multi million dollar payday for helping the IBT shove purchase transportation down your throat, along with a draconian absenteeism policy to ensure that you still show up for work after they rob you of everything you've worked for over the past 30 years.

And we're paying union dues for this?

I have more unionism in my daily large soft stool than the entire IBT does in Washington, D.C.

ive been in 2 different shops in rtw nc . both shops had a couple guys that refused to pay dues for what ever reason. As the ba would say when needed they will get the support they payed for

Your attitude is exactly why some will eventually opt out.
I concur. Too many bemoan the conditions. And do so without offering any REAL solutions. Some even express the hypocritical position that people who don't want to pay dues should not work for Union employers. While in the next breath, threaten to stop paying dues! They hate YRCW and the Teamsters. The problems we face are caused by anti-labor legislation and politicians. Until labor union members quit voting for politicians who do not protect labors best interests, the decline of unions will continue.

but how many have fought for years with that target on their back and gotten no back up from their brothers, their BA or the ibt ? all most cant blame them for saying FU

if your BA sez "don't do that, its a bad idea", its not fighting back, its stupidity, because he can probably go over the way the scenario will play out because someone did it before. loud and ornery is not smart. right now we need smart.

What you say is true but on the other hand sometimes the BA is wrong or doesn't know. You have to educate yourself on the contract and the law and sometimes be willing to go beyond your BA and local and fight back with a good labor attorney.
