I had 2 weeks worth of training with a guy that had 15 years less time in the seat than me. Train the trainer. :)

That's just mean spirited. Just because you have millions of posts, doesn't give you the right to be mean to me. :(

    Good deed for the week:

One of my fellow co workers had car issues last week. He asked everyone for a ride, but they turned him down as he lives too far away from Indy (about 30 miles north in Anderson). He worked around to me, and asked me if I could pick him up on Tuesday on my way into town. I told him that I'd do it, but his run started 2 hrs after mine. He accepted my offer, and had to come into work 2 hrs early to ride with me.

*a little background on this co worker*

He's in his 60s, at around 68. He was in the military for 28 years with the Army, and served 3 tours in Vietnam. Nobody likes this guy because of his attitude. He rarely says more than 2 words to people, and they typically aren't nice words.

Anyway, at the end of my run, I sent him a text message asking if he had a ride back. He didn't. I told him that I would give him a ride home, since I took him there. He then mentioned the fact that I was done working 2 hours before him, which I replied "You came in two hours early because I gave you a ride, so I'm going to stay 2 hours late to take you home". I took him home, and he asked me how much he owed me. My reply: "You don't owe me anything. I owed you. Thank you for your service". Him and I are starting to become good friends now. :)

When I started with England, I had some previous P/DC experience with DHL. I had 3 years in the seat and my trainer had 6 months in the seat. I got off that truck faster than I got on it.

That's the kind of person I am. I have gone out of my way for certain people who I feel deserved it. I also feel the same about work. Last night was another example. My boss was trying to figure out how to piece a run together after it's driver called in. He was trying to figure out who could take a particular dispatch for a certain station. I volunteered to take the dispatch, since I passed by the station anyway and I had the room on my trailer.

Thats a great story! One of my co-workers is sorta like that, he gripes and grumbles, has mad seniority and is my elder, he shuttles, I still call him Mr.###### because he never asked me to call him by his first name, I'm one of the few guys he really likes and gets along with. A little kindness and respect goes a long ways don't it.

    Mister Hashtag?

    Absolutely.

It has more value than all the money in the world.

    Spread lots of it around!

    It certainly does.

That driver also earned the rep of being the company troublemaker because of his attitude to everyone, but his attitude towards me changed a bit. At the MPA, we started joking on the CB, at his expense. The convo went something like:

Me: "Hey ####, I'm going to adopt you for my insurance policy"

    ####: "What do you mean?"

Me: "If I do something stupid, all I have to do is follow you around. When management sees you, they will concentrate on you instead of me"

Everyone at the MPA busted out in laughter, and that was the first time I heard #### laugh since I've been here.
