There’s a petition that will require states to create more semi truck parking

On a recent road trip I saw several closed and empty rest areas. I thought it was odd since there has been a shortage of parking spaces for quite some time. Defunct truck stops seem to be abundant as well and they offered a number of parking spaces. Nobody seems to really give a :

Considering N C stands for No Concern, this state only wants to punish drivers for not parking in overcrowded truck stops and rest areas.
For those drivers wanting to park and can be seen everywhere in ABANDONED LOCATIONS, It's Your Life!

Texas, for instance, on I-20, there are 2 usually closed & empty scales between Waskom and Terrell and every time I roll that way, there are scientists testing parking formulas. NO signs claiming NO PARKING yet ANY TIME one parks at a scale, one opens up the potentilal "inspection I, II, III levels".

Arkansas (No Parking On Ramps, Medians, Shoulders), I-30 parking availability:
x 106, JJ's (Military Rd)
X 96 or 88??, wail-mart parking.
x 63, Gurdon east and west side.
x 46, love's.
x 44 T.A., 44 truck stop.
x 18, Red River T. S.
x 7 Flying P.
Texarkana line: Rest Area.

Wait a minute. For "ages" all I have heard is "anti-government" talk. Keep the government out, we need less regulations, the government is too big, less government, less taxes and the conservative b/s continues and now comes the issue about truck parking and who should do it?? THE GOVERNMENT! Boy if this ain't hypocritical I don't know what is???????????
Being a liberal and almost a socialist, this might sound strange, but when it it comes to the government responsibility to provide accommodations for private enterprises. Don't take my money and provide a parking space for a J.B. or any other privately owned piece of equipment. Now, just as highway use taxes, if trucking companies want parking spaces for their equipment, then raise the tax on diesel fuel and pay for the parking spaces or raise the Federal Highway Use Tax. I resent tax money being spent for private enterprises. Let the trucking companies set up their runs as the LTL companies, "meet and turn" and then the rest areas and ramps wouldn't be overflowing.

Very interesting. I have said for several years now, that the only difference between us and the black slaves 200 years ago, we are not living on the plantation, actually. Truck drivers excluded, they live in a fiberglass box and if driving for one of the major mega carriers, the driver has almost have to get on his knees to go home for a few days. . The "slave master" used a black whip, corporations use other means, trucking companies have DAC and now the Federal Government is helping with the "whip" when they came up with PSP. Several years ago Gerry Spence, a famous lawyer, wrote a book entitled, "Give Me Liberty", well worth reading.
