FedEx Freight | Thoughts on the change of operations for clt & gsp, that takes place in october?

Extra freight does NOT equal extra runs, Red. Extra (overflow) can and will likely still be directed via CLT. Did you know there are purchase trailers also available in GSP to handle longer distance over flow freight. It takes a good bit of "extra" freight to make an extra run.

I said before, I'm not that concerned with it, so yall can debate it among yourselves. Just think about the realistic likely scenario, before hoping for an occasional "extra". Where is that freight flow study guide?:poke: J/K, Red.
Again, I'm not a freight flow specialist but....extra freight DOES equal extra runs, I see it at our hub everyday. We have a 20+ man extra board and we exhaust every driver PLUS pull from the city daily (some drivers are covering vacant bids but a majority are extra runs). The purpose of a GSP mini hub is to take approx 400K lbs of freight off of our dock to eliminate pressure and to allow us more room to operate. There's no way every lane is going to be even every night...it's almost impossible.
Also, a majority of the freight moving to GSP is "allegedly" freight that moves south of GSP, so the likelihood that any extras will move via CLT is highly unlikely IMO.
Why the doom and gloom Swamp? It's ok to hope for extra runs in GSP, that would be a plus for those guys...correct? Do you not want GSP to gain anything...even if it is extra runs?

Of course I "hope" for gains to those effected drivers at GSP.

Show me where I predicted "doom" or "gloom". Just being realistic. It would be GREAT for GSP to gain in a number of areas. Most of the past gains, as far as added (DISTANCE) runs, seem to have occurred in lanes primarily serviced by Purchase transportation. Also, a large portion of GSP runs (I hear) go directly to CLT, 80 miles away. I also hear GSP is very heavy on the outbound side, in terms of balance. So, the need for purchase will remain, based on your very own criteria, of balanced lanes. Also, most gains in freight level company wide are in the economy product. That allows quite a bit of flex, in terms of lanes used to make service.

Perhaps, being a low wage leader, might improve the chances for even more runs... :clapping: More "great things for GSP". :poke:

Of course gsp is going to gain cheaper labor.

I didn't claim you "predicted" anything, you're last response seemed to portray doom and gloom IMO...I too am a realist. These "past gains" you speak of, along with a majority of their runs being to CLT, pertained to GSP as an EOL center, as of Oct 18 they'll be a mini hub (basically the same as GBO) and with that I see positive changes for their future. Will there a plethora of added runs, no, probably not in the beginning anyways (CLT is still the main hub) but as they continue to grow some runs will come. I agree PT will still be needed but they're not gonna run a PT to say FLO, SAV or even ATL when they're over in those lanes....our PT run primarily to other hubs (mainly ORL and HFD due to very little freight coming out of FL and the NE respectively) and we run quite a bit of extras to EOL centers. We use drivers from other EOL centers through VIA's when possible but we do run our drivers when needed....it does happen here which is why I suspect it will happen there as well. I'll also agree with the flexibility pertaining to ECO freight since there is an extended window for delivery but even then the freight still has to be delivered on time....it can only sit for so long or run so far out of route.

I really hate that you're fixated with the GPD, perhaps that's clouded you're vision from the bigger picture. :poke:

I don't think he or I is fixated with it but it is a problem with our company that is going to lead more centers to seek representation. You would think they would just fix the problem rather than letting it fester jmo.

Not fixated, Red. I'm just not used to working for a less than competitive wage. Not since around 1980 have I worked for a company paying less than market wages. This company didn't used to, but for my area, it has for a few YEARS now. It's a little disappointing, and I don't like it. Neither would you, Red. Obviously, I've got 2 choices. I either need to get used to it, or do something about it. Fact? Of course it is...

I didn't like it but I didn't rant about it either....eventually, after YEARS of waiting, we got the bump too...just as you will too someday.
