Overall,DCPS,I thought it was rather minimal..We took less than most other freight lines did,don't you think..Of course I am at an end of the line terminal,we prolly won't take as big a hit as some of the larger ones..Not disagreeing with you,just trying to see it in a different light,if that's possible..
 
i havent had meeting yet so havent heard this yet but if its true.


as far as 401k goes, conway still gets 3 percent match just like estes. they lost bonus 401k money. guys could get up to 9 percent based on years of service.

and they say they will get the bonus 401k back at first of the year. so we did lose more.

they have 5 personal days we have none now.
 
and if they are taking all this away cause they refuse to cut rates to keep freight.

so why is there a takeback if they are laying off people to keep from losing money.

with the layoffs and no cut in rates we should not need to take cuts ourselves.

did they say with these cuts we dont need to lay anyone else off. what happened to trying to hold onto drivers till yrc goes down.
 
The latest word on the street is,YRC is not going under..So we have to be prepared for that..And the giveback to Conway,according to a freind that works there,is that they will get that back when available..No date has been set..So as it stands now, we took less..
 
Well my 401k match, plus holiday and personal days probably adds up somewhere around $4000 a year pay cut. Now take that 3% 401k match and add all the compounded interest over the next 30+ yrs I have to retire and man I took it in the :eck13: Thanks Rob, :nutkick:

Must be a white collar worker!!! I log 65-67 hours a week, so a few extra days off means the world to me Barstow. I did not say I was not grateful about having a job :nutkick:, I've made my phone calls...What have U done besides *****in on here??? Some of U don't realize that once things are takin away, it's hard to get it back...I don't sit back and live in the shadows...I've called Jr, Mike, and made several other HR calls...Might not get anywhere, but at least I stick up for myself and my fellow truckers...Just because WE still have jobs, does not mean we like the means of keeping it. :TR10driving03:

what you gonna say when all these grateful to still have a job people get laid off in the next couple months.

how can you be so grateful when there is no guarrentee we wont be laid off. there is no guarrentee your terminal might be the next one to be shut down.

and people have their facts wrong at conway, about what they lost. i have several family members working there and friends. they still have a 3 percent 401k match. we have none. they lost the bonus 401k money. they also lost profit sharing bonus, we never got one. that bonus was 7 percent of there pay for a driver. and 14 percent for supervisor. so yes they lost lot of money.

but compare apples to apples. you going to say a driver at such and such company lost more than us compare what they have now to what we have now. at most of conway they were at union scale only the southern states were lower. so even a pay cut didnt set them back to far in most states.
and their insurance is about 10 dollars a week. mine is now 58 dollars a week, and that is without vision.

yellow took two pay cuts, but that is from several years of bad management decisions. not because others did it so lets do it to our employees as well.

im not saying one company is better than the other so all who want to attack me for that no need.
what im saying is just take it and say well others lost more, when in reality we are still worse off doesnt make cense to me
. has old dominion lost, has ups freight lost? has r and l lost and many others who have not lost any.
yes i have to take it and glad to till be working, but layoff may still come, im worried every year till april comes around and freight picks up. and at this point we all need to be worried cause they could reroute freight at anytime. even change changes they already changed cause its not working how they thought.
 
I have not been in the meeting yet, Ill be in at 11 but I would like to know what they said about layoffs and if there was anything said about the shops
 
That's right. Taking a little from nuth'n is worse than taking a a little more from something.
 
GUYS I INDERSTAND FEELINGS ARE HIGH BUT NO NAME CALLING. I WILL NOT HAND OUT POINTS OR INFRACTIONS YET...... WE NEED TO RESPECT EACHOTHER AND REALIZE GUYS ARE VENTING. I UNDERSTAND THAT AND FEEL FOR ALL THAT IS INVOLVED. PLEASE RESPECT YOUR FELLOW DRIVERS..... LAST WARNING FOR ALL ..... TBB

WITH that said I will feel better about the "givebacks"/"takeaways" if we as a company can be more competitive in our pricing. If we all can get a few extra miles on the back end of this deal it would make it feel better

Yeah, I agree. Its just hard to look to the future right now...Just like everyone else, I have a wife and 4 kids so there is alot at stake...BTW, anyone having a hard time sleeping theses dayz???
 
In the meeting they said that they were going to use more one ways because they were running too many empty miles! It looks as the line drivers might be getting hit harder then P&D! In this new bid that everybody is talking about can line bid to P&D?

What future are you looking for? You have a job..You have a family that cares for you..You're promised NOTHING in this world..Nor, are you going to be given anything..DCPS, everyone one that works for Estes Exprees Lines, has the same as you,problems,dreams and the pursuit of survival..I learned a long time ago, that everything you worked for,everything you sweated and bled for,can be taken away in an instant..That's why I live life to the fullest and have my freinds and co-workers in mind all the time..

People might think Rob wanted to do all this..In my opinion,nothing could be farther from the truth..This is devestating to his plans..DCPS, I know where you are coming from,and I support you 100%..Lets make this a learning thing..We, didn't take as big of a hit as some freight companies did..

As far as the drivers that got layed off,my prayers are with you and your families..As I know, I ,would be in yours..

The way I understand it,rookie..Everyone bids in their class..Team.Linehaul and Hub..Every freight line right now is using purchased tranportation..Heck I seen a contractor pulling OD trailers the other night..Something you never seen here in the deep south..FedEx Freight,Conway, all of them are using them..But,there are contractors that like to pick where they go,something this industry doesn't tolerate..Let them keep sitting at termainals for 14 to 20 hours at a time, see how long they stay or what they are willing to take..Take food off a man's plate,sooner or later he gets hungry..

Bet Conway or Fedex would not lay off a driver with more time with the company. Regardless of what he or she does.

Linehaul the most, but you can see through the new video that it is true, All you linehaul drivers are just an expense!!!
We got guys really happy they took the runs that were gonna be a big paycut for most, they still have jobs.
